CHAPTER 4: The Betrayal Inside the Police Station

Emmaâs heart dropped.
Captain Harris smiled like a man who had been waiting years for this moment.
âYou always were too curious,â he said.
Emma shielded Noah behind her.
âYou sold Daniel out.â
Harris laughed quietly.
âDaniel found records he should never have touched. Human trafficking, dirty money, judges, officers⊠powerful people. He wanted to expose everyone.â
âAnd Noah?â
Harrisâs smile disappeared.
âThat boy is the only living witness.â
Emmaâs grip tightened around the hard drive.
Before Harris could step closer, Noah suddenly screamed.
âBehind you!â
A wounded man appeared from the shadows and slammed Harris to the ground.
Emma froze.
It was Daniel.
Alive.
Weak.
Bleeding.
But alive.
âEmma,â he gasped, ârun.â
The station erupted into chaos as corrupt officers turned their guns on their own team.
Emma grabbed Noah and Daniel, escaping through the back exit while sirens screamed behind them.
They reached an old ambulance hidden behind the building.
Daniel collapsed inside.
Emma looked at him, tears in her eyes.
âWhy didnât you come back?â
Daniel looked at Noah, then at her.
âBecause I wasnât just protecting my son.â
He swallowed hard.
âI was protecting yours too.â
Emma stopped breathing.
Noah looked up at her and whispered:
âDaddy said youâre my real mommy.â
And before Emma could speakâŠ
the hard drive suddenly activated by itself.
A video began playing.
It showed the night Noah was born.
