Chapter 8 - THE FINAL TWIST AND NEW BEGINNINGSTwo weeks later in Mexico City, the morning sun poured through the panoramic windows of Valeria’s high-rise office.

She was reviewing the final corporate restructuring documents with her legal team when her private secretary rushed into the room, holding a sealed, heavy cream-colored envelope with no return address.

“Mrs. Cruz, this was just delivered by courier to the front desk,” the secretary said, looking uneasy. “The courier insisted it had to be handed directly into your hands.”

Valeria frowned. She dismissed the legal team with a polite nod, picked up the envelope, and carefully slit open the top.

Inside was a single sheet of heavy parchment paper, handwritten in neat, elegant cursive.

“Dear Valeria,

Congratulations on your victory. You played your cards brilliantly, sacrificed wisely, and exposed Mauricio just as we planned.

Yes, I said 'we.'

Mauricio was merely a reckless pawn blinded by his own greed. But someone had to orchestrate his downfall so that the true, untainted bloodline could finally reclaim what rightfully belongs to the Alcázar foundation—free of debt, free of federal investigations, and free of incompetent leadership.

Don Octavio has retired permanently to the coast, leaving his final shares unassigned. And guess who holds power of attorney over them?

Look out your window, Valeria.”

Valeria’s breath hitched. A cold shiver crawled down her spine.

Slowly, with trembling hands, she stood up from her desk and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling glass window, looking down at the bustling Mexico City street below.

Parked directly across the street, right outside the corporate headquarters, was a sleek black SUV.

Leaning against the passenger door, wearing a sharp tailored suit and dark sunglasses, was Agent Morales.

As if sensing her gaze from fifty stories up, Morales slowly lifted his head, turned toward her window, and gave her a slow, chilling, knowing smile. He pulled a gray handkerchief from his pocket, gave it a single wave, and slid into the back of the SUV as it pulled away into the morning traffic, disappearing into the city.

Valeria stood frozen, the letter slipping from her fingers and fluttering softly down to the plush carpet.

The stranger on the bus hadn't been her savior.

He had been the architect all along.

And as she looked down at the empty street where the black SUV had just vanished, Valeria realized with a jolt of terrifying clarity that the game had only just begun.
