Chapter 4 - THE BREACH OF THE FORTRESSThe Porsche screeched to a halt twenty feet away from the towering wrought-iron security gates of the Serrano estate. The torrential rain hammered against the windshield as Mauricio threw the car door open and leaped out into the freezing downpour.

He lunged at the keypad beside the pedestrian gate, slamming his thumb against the biometric scanner.
Access Denied. Administrator Override Active.
He punched in his master PIN code. The screen blinked a mocking, harsh crimson. Valeria had purged his administrative credentials from the central cloud database. From the inside, his own smart home had been turned into an inescapable prison.
“Open the damn door!” Mauricio roared, kicking the thick iron bars with all his might, his polished leather shoes scuffing against the metal.
Inside the perimeter, the house sat in cold, silent luxury. The lights in the main hallway were dimmed, but the amber glow of the nursery window on the third floor pierced through the dark, rainy night like a baleful eye.
Mauricio knew he couldn't wait for a code. He backed away from the gate, his chest heaving, his eyes scanning the perimeter wall. At eight feet high, topped with decorative iron spikes and motion sensors, scaling it was suicide.
Unless...
His eyes locked onto the towering century-old oak tree whose heavy branches stretched from the sidewalk directly over the estate’s outer stone wall, hovering just a few feet away from the third-floor balcony of the master bedroom.
Without a second thought, Mauricio sprinted toward the tree, grabbed a thick, dripping branch, and hoisted himself upward. The rough bark tore at his expensive custom suit, and sharp twigs lashed across his face, drawing thin lines of blood. He didn't care. Adrenaline and sheer paternal fury pushed him higher, branch by branch, until he reached the apex of the canopy.
With a fierce grunt, he threw his weight forward, launching himself through the air toward the glass balcony railing of the third floor.
Crash!
His shoulder slammed into the tempered glass door of the master bedroom, shattering the secondary latch. He rolled across the hardwood floor, shards of glass embedded in his palms and coat, gasping for air.
He was inside.
He pulled himself up, tore open the bedroom door, and sprinted down the dimly lit hallway toward the nursery.
Meanwhile, inside the nursery, the nightmare had escalated.
Julián stood over Fernanda, holding a syringe filled with a clear, threatening liquid. Fernanda was backed into the corner, clutching baby Mateo so tightly that the child whimpered softly. Her face was pale as death, her lips swollen and bruised.
“Hold her arms,” Doña Elvira commanded coldly, watching from the rocking chair as if she were viewing a theatrical performance she had grown tired of. “We need the blood sample taken and the report uploaded to the family attorney’s portal before 3:15 A.M.”
Julián stepped forward, his massive frame blocking the doorway, grabbing Fernanda by the wrist.
Fernanda screamed—a piercing, desperate cry of a mother pushed to the absolute edge of human endurance.
“Get your hands off my wife!”
The roar echoed down the hallway like a thunderclap.
Julián spun around just as Mauricio burst through the nursery doorway, his eyes wild, his fists clenched, bleeding from his hands and face.
Elvira stood up from the rocking chair, her expression shifting for a fraction of a second from calm superiority into sudden, unadulterated shock.

“Mauricio...” Elvira breathed, her voice faltering. “How did you—”
Mauricio didn’t let her finish. He crossed the room in three massive strides, grabbed Julián by the collar of his tactical jacket with superhuman strength, and drove his fist straight into the mercenary's jaw with the force of an oncoming freight train.
