Chapter 7 - THE FOUR O'CLOCK TIME BOMBThe digital clock on the mahogany desk in Mauricio’s private study glowed in the dark: 3:58 A.M.

The house had grown quiet. The federal agents had departed with their files and detained suspects, leaving behind a solemn perimeter guard. Upstairs, Fernanda and baby Mateo had finally fallen into a deep, natural, untroubled sleep, their breathing synchronized in the peaceful silence of the nursery.
Mauricio sat alone in the study, a cup of black coffee cooling beside his hand. He was exhausted down to his very bones, yet his mind refused to shut down.
Suddenly, the computer monitor on his desk—the one connected to the main corporate server—woke up from sleep mode with a sharp, piercing chime.
Mauricio frowned. He stood up and walked over to the screen.
A single command prompt window had opened automatically. A progress bar was filling up rapidly, accompanied by a text block flashing in bold red letters:
AUTOMATED CONTINGENCY PROTOCOL: OMEGA-7 ACTIVATED. INITIATING ASSET LIQUIDATION AND OFFSHORE WIRE TRANSFER...
Mauricio’s breath caught in his throat.
Valeria.
Before her arrest, before her hard drives were seized, her automated system had been programmed with a dead-man's switch. If she and Elvira were ever arrested by federal authorities, a master script would automatically execute at 4:00 A.M., draining every corporate account, liquidating all real estate holdings, and transferring the entire multi-million-dollar Serrano empire into an untraceable offshore shell company in the Cayman Islands.
Mauricio lunged at the keyboard, his fingers flying across the keys.
Access Denied. Root privileges revoked.
He tried to enter his master administrator password. The screen flashed a mocking error message: CREDENTIALS INVALID. SYSTEM LOCKED BY USER: VALERIA_C.
The progress bar hit 85%.
If the transfer completed in less than ninety seconds, the Serrano family would wake up completely bankrupt. Every development project, every property deed, every penny of generational wealth would vanish into the ether, leaving them with nothing—not even the home they were standing in, which was collateralized under the corporate entity.
Mauricio frantically reached for his phone to call the federal cyber-crime unit.
No signal.
The secure private router in the study had just been disabled by the script, cutting off all external communication from the room.
The progress bar ticked upward: 92%... 95%... 98%...

Mauricio stared at the screen, sweat beading on his forehead. There was only one physical way to stop the transfer before it reached 100%. He had to pull the master server rack circuit breaker located in the basement sub-level—manually cutting the power to the entire smart estate before the data packet cleared the local gateway.
He didn't hesitate. He turned and sprinted out of the study, plunging into the dark, silent corridors of the house, racing against a digital clock that was about to destroy his entire legacy.
