Chapter 5 - THE TRAP IS SPRUNG“A Father’s Reckoning!”BANG!

A single sniper shot echoed through the stormy sky.

Arthur’s gun flew out of his hand as a high-caliber bullet shattered his wrist. He screamed in agony, stumbling backward onto the wet asphalt. The mercenary panicked, attempting to raise his rifle, but Alexander charged forward like an enraged predator, tackling the mercenary off the edge of the helipad landing gear and knocking him unconscious with a single brutal right hook.

"Chloe!" Elena sprinted across the slick pavement, sliding onto her knees and pulling her daughter into a desperate, crushing embrace. "I've got you, baby! I've got you!"

Alexander dragged the bleeding Arthur Sterling by his collar, pressing him against the edge of the roof ledge, two hundred feet above the pavement.

"Give me one reason why I shouldn't drop you right now," Alexander growled, his eyes cold and dark as death itself.

"Wait! Wait!" Arthur choked out, coughing blood. "I was just executing orders! I'm not the mastermind! I swear!"

Alexander tightened his grip on Arthur’s collar, dangling him slightly over the edge. "Who is paying you, Arthur? Speak!"

"It's... it's your stepmother!" Arthur wheezed out in absolute terror. "Eleanor Kane! She's the one who orchestrated everything seven years ago! She didn't want a bastard child inheriting the Kane fortune! She hired Valeria, she hired me, she controls the offshore accounts!"

Alexander’s eyes narrowed. His stepmother, Eleanor Kane—the widow of his late father—had spent years acting like a loving matriarch while secretly bleeding the family empire dry.

"Thank you for the confession," Alexander whispered. He pulled Arthur back onto the roof deck and slammed him into the arms of the SWAT team members descending from the police chopper. "Put him in high-security isolation."

Alexander turned to Elena and Chloe, kneeling down to embrace them both under the pouring rain. "It’s over now. The real viper has finally shown her face."

CLIFFHANGER: Two hours later, at the grand Kane Estate, Eleanor Kane sat sipping tea, unaware that Alexander was outside her front door with fifty federal agents.
