Chapter 17 - The View from the 52nd FloorHigh above the bustling streets of Manhattan, Clare Bennett stood by the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of her fifty-second-floor office.

She held a cup of Earl Grey tea, watching the tiny yellow cabs move like ants through the grid below.

Maya walked in, placing a freshly printed folder on the desk. "Clare, the Apex Global account was formally reassigned to our senior logistics team after their internal suspension notice. The contract has been restructured under standard corporate terms."

"Good," Clare said without turning around. "Ensure our team delivers flawless execution, as always."

"Will do," Maya smiled, hesitating for a moment before speaking again. "You know... you could have completely tanked their contract when you saw his name on the brief. No one would have blamed you."

Clare turned away from the window, her dark eyes calm, clear, and utterly at peace.

"Tanking someone's business out of spite requires energy, Maya," Clare said softly, setting her teacup down. "And my energy is far too valuable to waste on people who are already defeating themselves."

She walked back to her mahogany desk, opened her passport, and stamped a bold, crimson word across a newly finalized itinerary for a private expedition to the Norwegian fjords:

CONFIRMED.
