Chapter 6 - THE DIVORCE SETTLEMENT PROPOSALSBy Thursday, my divorce lawyer, Cynthia Vance—a shark known for dismantling high-net-worth dynasties—sent over the initial settlement terms.

The terms were simple, brutal, and utterly non-negotiable:
Immediate, uncontested dissolution of the marriage on grounds of financial malfeasance and breach of fiduciary trust.
Complete release of my personal guarantees from Harrington Enterprises, transferring full liability back to Harrington Sr. and Madison.
Total forfeiture by Daniel of any claim to my pre-marital assets, stock options, and independent corporate accounts.
A public, written apology from Daniel and Madison published in the regional business journal regarding the defamatory remarks made about my family.
Daniel called me directly from a burner phone that evening. His voice was hollow, stripped of all arrogance.
"Claire... Item four. The public apology. Madison will never agree to it. It will destroy her reputation in society."
"Then she can explain to a criminal judge why she forged signatures on a federal wire transfer," I replied evenly. "She has twenty-four hours to sign, Daniel. Otherwise, the criminal referral goes to the District Attorney's office on Friday morning."
"You wouldn't put my sister in prison..."
May you like
"Try me."
The line went dead.
