Chapter 8 - THE RECKONING AT THE RESTAURANTTwo weeks after the incident at the anniversary dinner, the flagship Harrington restaurant was officially seized by receivership and put up for auction.

Curious and closure-seeking, I drove past the location on a crisp Saturday afternoon. A crowd of onlookers and journalists had gathered outside the grand double doors where brass lettering spelling HARRINGTON was already being pried off the stonework by workers in hard hats.
Standing near the curb, looking smaller and grayer than I had ever seen him, was Harrington Sr. Beside him stood Daniel, holding a single cardboard box containing his personal desk items.
As my car stopped at the traffic light, Harrington Sr. turned his head. His eyes met mine through the tinted window of my SUV.
For a second, I thought he might storm over and yell. But he didn't. He just looked away, his shoulders slumping under the crushing weight of a legacy built on glass and arrogance.
Daniel took a step toward my car, raising a hand as if to plead for one last word.
