Chapter 6 - The Invention’s True Purpose"Leo," Dr. Hart whispered rapidly, turning her back to Sterling to cover me. "The bio-frequency monitor you built for the science fair... did you bring it?"

"It's in my backpack," I whispered back, my pulse racing. "Why?"

"Your monitor doesn't just read human blood vessels," she said, her voice fast and sharp. "It uses the exact same resonance frequency your father used to lock the GENESIS network. If you attach your device to the key and plug it into my baby’s carrier suit, it won't just unlock the data—it will trigger a localized electromagnetic pulse that will fry every piece of Apex tech within two hundred yards!"

"Including their weapons?" I asked.

"Including their weapons, their vehicles, and their comms," she confirmed. "But it will destroy your project forever. You'll never get your scholarship. You'll never get your award."

I looked at the black backpack at my feet—the months of late nights, the sleepless hours, the dream of proving I was somebody.

Then I looked at the innocent baby wrapped in the blanket, and at Dr. Hart, who had put her faith in a twelve-year-old kid.

"My dad didn't build things to win awards," I said, unzipping my bag with absolute certainty. "He built things to save people."

I slammed my prototype monitor onto the glowing blue key.
