Chapter 15 - The Final ConfessionAs federal agents led a furious Richard Vance out of the office, the room fell into a heavy, profound silence.

I walked over to the window, watching the flashing red and blue lights of the federal vehicles illuminate the rainy street below. The nightmare that had begun with smoke and flames on a cold midnight was finally reaching its absolute conclusion.
Marcus stepped up beside me, handing me a thick manila folder containing the final federal audit reports of the entire syndicate.
"It's over, Arthur," Marcus said quietly. "Every single asset belonging to Julian, Richard, and the shell corporations has been permanently seized and redirected to the Ruth Miller Foundation."
I opened the folder, running my fingers over the official seals. "And Vanessa and Grant?"
"Their trial concluded an hour ago with the new evidence," Marcus replied. "Because of Richard's intercepted communications proving they plotted your murder to secure the inheritance, their sentences have been upgraded. Neither of them will see daylight for the next twenty-five years."
I let out a long, shuddering breath. The grief was still there—the bitter sorrow of realizing my own daughter had turned into a monster—but beneath it, a profound sense of liberation took root.
"Thank you, Marcus," I said, turning to look him in the eye. "You saved my life, and you gave me back my truth."
"I honored my father's memory, and Ruth's," Marcus replied with a warm, genuine smile. "Now... what are you going to do with the rest of your life, Arthur?"

I looked down at the golden ring on my left hand, the band that had remained steady through decades of marriage, betrayal, and fire.
"I'm going to build a home where no one can ever be trapped again," I said softly.
