Chapter 8 - The Final Twist (THE END)

Emergency red alarm lights began flashing through the smoke-filled underground garage. Sirens blared at deafening volumes.
"Get down!" Julian screamed, tackling Victoria behind a heavy concrete pillar as bullets ricocheted off the walls.
A group of masked operatives dressed in unmarked black tactical gear swept through the garage with terrifying precision. They weren't aiming to kill the federal agents—they were using flashbangs and tear gas to neutralize them.
Within sixty seconds, the transport van holding Daniel and Clara was breached. The doors were ripped open, and the two prisoners were pulled out.
"Who are these people?!" Victoria gasped, choking on the tear gas.
Julian pulled his service weapon, firing two shots around the pillar to cover the retreating federal agents. "It's her," Julian growled. "She came to clean up the mess."
Through the thick white smoke, a single figure walked slowly into the garage, flanked by two heavily armed guards. She wore a tailored crimson suit, black leather gloves, and expensive dark sunglasses.
She stopped in front of the open transport van. She lowered her sunglasses, revealing cold, striking green eyes.
It was Victoria’s mother. Alive. Powerful. Ruthless.
"Mother..." Victoria whispered from behind the pillar, her voice trembling.
Evelyn Vance-Montgomery looked around the smoke-filled room with utter disgust. Her eyes fell upon Daniel, who was grinning like a madman, expecting a warm embrace.
"Mom! You made it!" Daniel laughed, holding out his handcuffed wrists. "Get these off me! We have the ledgers! We won!"
Evelyn looked at Daniel as if he were a bug on the bottom of her shoe.
"You failed me, Daniel," Evelyn said, her voice cold as steel.
"What?" Daniel's smile instantly vanished. "What do you mean? I exposed Richard! I transferred the money!"
"You got greedy," Evelyn snapped. "You tried to steal forty million dollars for yourself and run away with a low-class street scammer instead of delivering the codes to the syndicate. You compromised twenty years of my planning because of your petty ego."
Evelyn raised her hand and made a slight motion with her index finger.
POP.
Before Daniel could even scream, the tactical guard standing beside Evelyn drew a suppressed pistol and shot Daniel directly through the chest.
Daniel gasped, dropping to his knees, clutching his chest as blood pooled onto the garage floor. Clara shrieked in absolute terror, scrambling backward into the corner of the van.
"No! Daniel!" Victoria screamed, attempting to break away from Julian, but Julian held her back tightly behind the pillar.
"Stay down, Victoria!" Julian hissed. "She will kill you too!"
Evelyn turned her head slowly toward the concrete pillar where Victoria and Julian were hiding. A thin, terrifying smile appeared on her lips.
"I know you're behind that pillar, Victoria," Evelyn called out, her voice echoing through the ruined garage. "You always were your father's daughter... clever, quick, but ultimately weak."
Evelyn walked forward, her designer heels clicking sharply against the blood-stained concrete.
"Did you really think your father was the monster here?" Evelyn laughed softly. "Richard was just my puppet. I built Montgomery Global. I ordered the fire twenty years ago. I framed the Vance family to clear my own debts. And now, thanks to your little software trick, every single dark asset in the world has been consolidated under my private network."
Victoria’s heart stopped.
The fire... the corruption... the ruined lives...
It wasn't her father.
It was her mother all along.
"You're a monster," Victoria choked out, stepping out from behind the pillar, ignoring Julian’s desperate attempts to pull her back.
Evelyn stared at her daughter with cold, emotionless eyes. "I'm a survivor, Victoria. And today, the Montgomery name dies forever."
Evelyn raised a small detonator switch in her hand. "The explosive charges in the cathedral and your father's hospital room will detonate in thirty seconds. Goodbye, my dear."
Evelyn pressed the button.
CLICK.
...Silence.
Nothing happened. No explosion. No sirens in the distance.
Evelyn’s cold smile faded. She pressed the button again. And again. CLICK. CLICK. CLICK.
"Looking for this signal?" Victoria said calmly.
Victoria pulled a glowing blue hardware drive from her coat pocket.
"When I stepped out from behind the pillar," Victoria said, her voice dripping with lethal confidence, "I uploaded my counter-virus into your tactical team's short-range comms network. I didn't just block your detonators, Mother. I rerouted your private network's master encryption keys directly to the Interpol central mainframe."
Evelyn’s face turned deathly pale for the first time in her life. "What... what did you do?!"
"I didn't just ruin Daniel," Victoria whispered, taking a step toward her mother. "I just erased your entire empire. You are officially penniless. And every law enforcement agency on Earth is currently looking at your location."
Before Evelyn could react, heavy military helicopters roared overhead, smashing through the glass skylights of the garage. Dozens of international SWAT teams descended on ropes, completely swarming the facility.
"DROP YOUR WEAPONS! FBI! INTERPOL! HANDS IN THE AIR!"
Evelyn’s tactical team immediately dropped their guns and surrendered. Evelyn stood frozen, staring at her daughter in absolute, paralyzed disbelief as federal officers slammed her onto the hood of a car and slapped steel cuffs onto her wrists.
As she was being dragged away, Evelyn locked eyes with Victoria one last time. "You... you destroyed everything!"
"No," Victoria said coldly, turning her back on her mother forever. "I just finished the wedding."
AFTERMATHThree months later.
The news of the "Wedding of the Century" had finally faded from the headlines. Richard Montgomery was cleared of all major treason charges thanks to Victoria's evidence, though he retired permanently to a quiet life away from public eye.
Daniel survived his gunshot wound and was sentenced to 45 years in maximum security federal prison alongside Clara. Evelyn Vance was handed three life sentences without parole in an isolated federal facility.
On a quiet, sunlit beach in southern Italy, Victoria stood on the edge of a wooden dock, watching the waves crash against the rocks. The wind blew through her hair, carrying away the ghosts of her past.
Footsteps echoed behind her. Julian walked up, holding two cups of warm coffee. He handed one to her.
"Interpol officially closed the file today," Julian said quietly. "Your family's old company is liquidated. The victims of the Vance fire were fully compensated."
Victoria took a sip of her coffee, looking out at the endless blue horizon. "And the money?"
Julian smiled faintly. "Safe. Exactly where 'Vixen' put it."
Victoria turned to him, a genuine, beautiful smile gracing her lips for the first time in months. "So... what does an ex-heiress and a former federal agent do now?"
May you like
Julian looked at her, his eyes warm and sincere. "Whatever we want, Victoria. Whatever we want."
