CHAPTER 2 — The Woman He Thought Needed Him Was Actually the One Who Owned Everything

When our plane landed in London, two black Rolls-Royces were already waiting beside the private terminal.

My children looked through the window with wide eyes.

"Mom..."

"Are those for us?"

I smiled.

"Yes."

The chauffeur opened the door.

"Welcome home, Miss Whitmore."

Neither of my children understood why dozens of executives were standing outside.

Neither knew that my grandfather, Arthur Whitmore, had spent twenty years quietly building one of Europe's largest investment groups.

When I married Marcus, I had hidden my last name.

Not because I was ashamed.

Because I wanted someone to love me...

Instead of my family's fortune.

Marcus failed that test years ago.

Inside Whitmore Headquarters, the board stood as one.

Arthur embraced me tightly.

"You stayed longer than I expected."

"I wanted my children to have a father."

"And now?"

"They deserve peace instead."

Arthur looked at my son and daughter.

"They'll never beg for love again."

Across the ocean...

Marcus wasn't thinking about me.

He was screaming inside the clinic.

"You lied to me!"

Penelope sobbed uncontrollably.

"I was scared!"

"WHO IS ETHAN?"

The man calmly folded his arms.

"We dated for almost three years."

Marcus looked confused.

"You said she cheated on me with you!"

Ethan laughed.

"No."

"She cheated on me..."

"...with you."

The room exploded into shouting.

Roxanne slapped Penelope.

Marcus threw a chair across the room.

His mother began crying.

Then Ethan calmly placed an envelope on the table.

"I also brought something else."

Inside...

Were hundreds of messages.

Photos.

Hotel receipts.

Voice recordings.

Every lie Penelope had told.

And one DNA report...

Already proving Ethan was almost certainly the biological father.

Marcus collapsed into a chair.

Everything he had destroyed his family for...

Had been built on a lie.

May you like

But his worst surprise...

Still hadn't arrived.
