CHAPTER 6 — "The DNA Test Exposed More Than One Lie..."

Marcus thought losing his fortune had been the end.
He was wrong.
Exactly two weeks after leaving Whitmore Headquarters, his phone rang.
The caller ID displayed only one word:
Dr. Vance.
"Mr. Henderson," the doctor said calmly. "There's something you need to know regarding the DNA testing."
Marcus frowned.
"I already know Ethan is the father."
"That's not why I'm calling."
"The laboratory accidentally discovered another genetic inconsistency."
Marcus felt his stomach tighten.
"What inconsistency?"
"The sample you submitted doesn't match one of the historical medical records attached to your family file."
Marcus drove to the clinic immediately.
Dr. Vance laid two folders on the desk.
"The first confirms Ethan is the biological father of Penelope's baby."
Marcus didn't even look.
"And the second?"
The doctor hesitated.
"It's about your own DNA."
Marcus slowly opened the report.
His hands began to shake.
The words blurred before his eyes.
Probability that William Henderson is the biological father: 0.00%.
He looked up in disbelief.
"That's impossible."
"I've been William Henderson's son for thirty-eight years."
Dr. Vance spoke gently.
"I'm afraid the test says otherwise."
Marcus staggered backward.
Everything he had built his identity around...
His family name.
His inheritance.
His loyalty to his parents...
Suddenly meant nothing.
That evening, he stormed into the Henderson mansion.
His father was enjoying dinner.
His mother smiled as if nothing had happened.
Marcus threw the DNA report across the table.
"What is this?"
William glanced at the papers.
The color drained from his face.
Margaret Henderson quietly lowered her fork.
No one spoke.
Marcus slammed both fists onto the table.
"I asked you a question!"
After several agonizing seconds...
Margaret finally whispered,
"Your father doesn't know either."
William slowly turned toward his wife.
"What... did you just say?"
Tears streamed down Margaret's face.
"There was a terrible mistake thirty-eight years ago."
The room fell into complete silence.
Then William stood up so abruptly that his chair crashed onto the marble floor.
"You've been lying to me..."
"...for almost four decades?"
For the second time in a month...
The Henderson family exploded from within.
May you like
And Marcus realized the people who had taught him to lie...
Had been hiding the biggest lie of all.
