Chapter 3 - The Daughter of the Enemy

Viral Title: TWIST OF THE CENTURY! THE GIRL WHO SAVED HIM IS THE DAUGHTER OF THE MAN WHO DESTROYED HIS LIFE!

The high-society gala ended in a chaotic frenzy of flashing police lights, sirens, and rushing news reporters. By 2:00 AM, the video of the "Miracle Heir" standing up from his wheelchair and exposing Julian Sterling had accumulated over 100 million views globally, trending #1 on every social media platform.

Inside an underground, high-security safehouse located beneath an abandoned clocktower on the outskirts of the city, Noah sat on a leather couch. His legs were painful, aching with intense spasms as the nerve endings fully reactivated, but he refused to lie down.

Across the room, standing near a wall covered in monitors and tactical maps, was Clara.

"Is it true?" Noah asked, his voice rough, staring at her back. "Are you Julian’s daughter?"

Clara took a deep breath, her shoulders rising and falling before she slowly turned around. "My legal name is Clara Sterling. I am Julian’s illegitimate daughter."

Noah gritted his teeth, his hands clenching into fists. "You played me. All of this... was this just another game between your family?"

"If I wanted to play you, Noah, I would have let you take your midnight dose tonight," Clara said sharply, stepping closer. "You would have had a massive stroke by 1:00 AM, and Julian would have inherited everything cleanly without a single police officer batting an eye."

She dropped a thick leather folder onto the coffee table in front of him.

"My mother was Arthur Vance’s personal assistant," Clara explained, her eyes filled with a deep, sorrowful shadow. "Julian forced himself on her twenty-six years ago. When she discovered he was planning to sabotage your father’s yacht, she tried to warn your parents. Julian found out. He murdered my mother three days before the yacht exploded and made it look like a suicide."

Noah stared at the documents inside the folder—autopsy reports, hidden birth certificates, and hand-written letters from Clara’s mother detailing Julian’s horrifying master plan.

"I was raised in secret by the Raven Society—an underground syndicate founded by your father to protect Vance Global's highest secrets in case of his death," Clara continued, her voice trembling slightly. "For five years, I infiltrated Julian’s inner circle. I posed as his low-level accountant. I stole his encrypted keys. I risked my life every single night to swap your toxic daily dosage with dilute saline whenever I could access your mansion."

Noah looked up, realization dawning on him. "The night nurses... they kept changing..."

"Because I kept bribing them or getting them fired so I could get close to you," Clara said softly, stepping right up to him. "I couldn't tell you the truth earlier, Noah. If Julian suspected for a single second that you knew you were being poisoned, he wouldn't have kept you in that chair. He would have put a bullet in your head."

Noah reached out, his trembling fingers touching Clara’s hand. The coldness he felt earlier vanished, replaced by a profound, overwhelming realization. She wasn't his enemy. She was the guardian angel who had been fighting in the dark while he was trapped in the quiet horror of his mind.

"Why tonight?" Noah asked. "Why at the gala?"

"Because tonight at midnight, you turned 25," Clara said, her eyes narrowing. "Under your father’s will, at age 25, the automated global kill-switch for Vance Global’s ultimate technology—Project Aether—was set to activate. If you were dead or declared permanently incompetent, Julian would have gained total access to the launch codes."

Before Noah could ask what Project Aether was, the security alarms inside the clocktower began to blare violently! Red lights flashed across the room, casting bloody reflections on the brick walls.

BOOM!

A massive explosion blew the heavy steel doors of the safehouse off their hinges! Debris, smoke, and fire billowed into the room.

Through the thick gray smoke stepped four heavily armed mercenaries wearing tactical night-vision gear and body armor. On their chests was a crimson insignia—a golden viper.

"Clara Sterling! Noah Vance!" a cold, robotic voice echoed from a speaker attached to the lead mercenary’s chest. "Mr. Vance's real employer sends his regards. You thought Julian was the mastermind? Julian was just a puppet."

Noah’s heart plunged into an abyss. There was someone above Julian?

"Take the boy alive! Kill the girl!" the lead mercenary commanded, raising a suppressed automatic rifle directly at Clara’s chest!
