Chapter 4 - The Puppet Master Awakens

Viral Title: YOU THOUGHT THE UNCLE WAS THE BAD GUY?! THE REAL VILLAIN JUST BLEW UP THE SAFEHOUSE!
"DOWN!" Noah roared.
In a split second, powered by sheer adrenaline and five years of pent-up fury, Noah threw his body forward, tackling Clara behind a thick reinforced steel workbench just as a hail of bullets tore through the room, pulverizing the leather couch and smashing the computer monitors into thousands of sparking pieces.
Sparks showered over them. Smoke filled Noah's lungs, making him cough violently, but his mind was crystal clear. His body was weak, his legs burned like fire, but he was no longer the helpless victim in the wheelchair.
"Can you shoot?" Clara gasped, pulling two sleek tactical handguns from a hidden compartment under her dress, tossing one to Noah.
Noah caught the gun, racking the slide with a practiced familiarity he hadn't used since he was a teenager training with his father’s security detail. "I’m better at aiming than walking right now. Who are these people?!"
"The Viper Syndicate," Clara hissed, firing three rapid shots over the workbench, taking down one of the advancing mercenaries with precision headshots. "The shadowy cabal that financed Julian's takeover! They aren't interested in Vance Global’s money—they want Project Aether!"
"What the hell IS Project Aether?!" Noah shouted back, firing a volley of shots that pinned down two other soldiers behind a concrete pillar.
"It’s an orbital satellite weapon framework capable of hacking into every nuclear defense grid on Earth!" Clara revealed, her face pale under the red emergency lights. "Your father built it as a defense shield, but he realized it was too dangerous and locked it away inside your DNA! The midnight activation didn't just need your age—it needs your biological blood print!"
Noah’s eyes widened in horror. His entire life—his family’s death, his five years of forced paralysis—wasn't just about corporate greed. It was a global blackmail scheme on a terrifying scale.
"We have to move! The back tunnel!" Clara yelled, throwing a flashbang grenade over the workbench.
BANG!
A blinding white flash and a deafening roar disoriented the remaining mercenaries. Clara grabbed Noah’s arm, hauling him toward a hidden iron trapdoor in the floor. Noah dragged his heavy, aching legs, pushing past the blinding pain through sheer willpower.
They dropped into the dark underground drainage tunnel just as the safehouse above them exploded into a massive fireball, collapsing the ceiling and crushing the remaining mercenaries.
They ran through the filthy, echoing subterranean tunnels of the city for what felt like miles, guided only by Clara’s waterproof flashlight. When they finally emerged out of a storm drain, they were at the dark, foggy edge of the city’s industrial docks.
Waiting for them in the dark water was a sleek, unlit stealth speedboat.
Standing on the deck of the boat, holding an umbrella in the light rain, was a figure that made Noah’s blood run cold.
It was a woman in her late fifties, wearing a immaculate white coat, holding a walking cane with a silver dragon head.
"Grandmother...?" Noah gasped, taking a step back in absolute disbelief.
It was Evelyn Vance—his paternal grandmother, the matriarch of the Vance family, who had supposedly died of cancer ten years ago!
"Hello, my darling grandson," Evelyn spoke, her voice smooth, elegant, and entirely devoid of warmth. "You really are your father's son. So difficult to kill."
Noah felt as if his entire world was crumbling into dust. "You... you died... ten years ago..."
"I faked my death to build the Viper Syndicate from the shadows," Evelyn said with a cold, terrifying smile. "Julian was an idiot—a greedy, pathetic fool who couldn't even keep a boy in a wheelchair proper without getting caught on camera. But you, Noah... you have brought me your blood."
Evelyn snapped her fingers.

From the shadows of the shipping containers around them, twenty armed mercenaries stepped out, locking their sights on Noah and Clara.
"Give me your blood code, Noah," Evelyn said, stepping off the boat onto the dock. "And I will let your little savior live. Refuse... and I will skin her alive in front of you before I drain your veins myself."
