Chapter 5 - The Blood Ultimatum

Viral Title: HIS OWN GRANDMOTHER WAS THE MONSTER! THE DEEPEST BETRAYAL IN HIGH-SOCIETY HISTORY!
The freezing rain fell steadily, washing over the slick asphalt of the abandoned docks. The sound of waves crashing against the wooden piers was swallowed by the heavy, oppressive silence of twenty high-caliber weapons aimed directly at Noah Vance and Clara Sterling.
Noah stood in front of Clara, shielding her with his body despite his knees trembling from exhaustion and nerve pain.
"Why, Grandmother?" Noah's voice trembled, a mixture of rage, grief, and profound betrayal tearing through his chest. "My father was your son! You ordered his murder?! You ordered the execution of your own blood?!"
Evelyn Vance chuckled—a dry, soulless sound that cut colder than the rain.
"Arthur was weak, Noah," Evelyn said coldly, stepping forward, her silver cane tapping against the wet concrete. "He was brilliant, yes. He created Project Aether—a weapon that could force world powers to their knees. But he grew a conscious. He wanted to destroy it! He wanted to use it for 'peaceful global communications.' How pathetically naive."
She paused, staring at Noah with eyes that held no love, only cold calculation.
"Power isn't meant to be shared or destroyed, Noah. It is meant to be wielded. Julian was supposed to bring me the blood key years ago, but he was too busy enjoying the high life, pretending to be a CEO. Tonight, you walked out of that chair. You proved you carry your father’s stubbornness. Now, hand over the drive and step onto the boat."
Clara leaned close to Noah from behind, her voice a barely audible whisper against the sound of the falling rain. "The drive I gave you... it doesn't just contain Julian's files. It has an encrypted pulse signal linked to the Raven Society's orbital network. If you activate it with your fingerprint, it triggers a localized EMP blast. But it will fry everything in a 200-meter radius—including our own nervous systems."
"Will it kill us?" Noah whispered back through motionless lips.
"It might re-paralyze you permanently," Clara answered, her voice shaking. "Or it might stop our hearts."
Noah looked at his grandmother—the woman who had engineered his family’s murder, who had watched him suffer for five years in a wheelchair while pretending to be dead, treating him like a sacrificial lamb.
He looked down at his trembling, pale hands. Five years in that chair had given him something his grandmother never accounted for: an unbreakable, iron mind forged in absolute darkness.
"You want my blood, Grandmother?" Noah said aloud, taking a loud, firm step forward, deliberately showing no fear.
He pulled out the matte-black USB drive from his pocket.
Evelyn’s eyes glinted with dark greed. "Smart boy. Bring it to me."
"Come and take it," Noah roared.
Instead of hand it over, Noah slammed the USB drive into his own palm, pressing his thumb onto the biometric scanner on its side while smashing his fist down onto the concrete!
BZZZZZZZZZT!
A blinding, violet wave of electromagnetic energy erupted from the drive with a deafening sonic boom!
Instantly, every electronic device within two blocks short-circuited in a shower of blue sparks! The laser sights on the mercenaries' guns vanished. The dock's floodlights shattered into darkness. The stealth boat's engines died with a horrifying screech.
"NO!" Evelyn shrieked as her high-tech pacemaker glitched violently, forcing her to fall to her knees, clutching her chest in agony.
The mercenaries panicked as their electronic scopes and night-vision goggles fried, blinding them instantly.
"NOW, CLARA!" Noah screamed.
Despite the agonizing electrical shock coursing through his nerves, setting every pain receptor in his legs on fire, Noah didn't collapse. The EMP didn't re-paralyze him—it forced a massive surge of electricity through his system, burning out the remaining traces of the neurotoxin in his blood!
Noah charged forward like a wounded lion! He tackled the nearest mercenary, disarming him in one fluid motion, using the butt of the rifle to crack the soldier's helmet before firing blind into the dark, sweeping down two more guards.
Clara moved like a ghost in the shadows, her martial arts training taking over as she incapacitated three mercenaries in rapid succession using pure hand-to-hand combat in the pitch-black rain.
Chaos consumed the docks. Gunfire lit up the darkness in sudden, violent bursts.
Evelyn Vance crawled toward the edge of the dock, coughing blood, struggling to reach a secondary manual detonation remote hidden inside her cane. "You... ungrateful... brat!"
Noah stepped out of the shadow, his clothes soaked, blood trickling down his forehead, standing directly over her.

He kicked the cane out of her reaching hand, sending it splashing into the dark ocean below.
"The Vances aren't weak, Grandmother," Noah said, looking down at her with cold, merciless eyes. "My father was strong because he cared. And that’s why you lose."
