Chapter 4 - The Boardroom ShowdownThe glass-walled conference room on the 24th floor of the Villarreal Tower offered a panoramic view of the majestic Sierra Madre mountains.

At 8:55 AM, the members of the Board of Directors were already seated. Whispers filled the room. Rumors had leaked that there was a hostile family takeover underway, and the city's elite business circle loved nothing more than corporate blood in the water.
At 9:00 AM sharp, the double doors swung open.
Diego walked in first, wearing a smug, triumphant grin, tailored suit gleaming, acting as though he already owned the building. Right behind him walked Ofelia, dressed in head-to-toe Chanel, holding her head high like a queen reclaiming her throne. She shot a venomous glare at the empty seat at the head of the table—Alejandro’s seat.
“Good morning, esteemed directors,” Diego announced loudly, taking the seat next to the main chair. “As you know, corporate restructuring is necessary for growth. Due to unforeseen personal negligence by our current CEO, my brother Alejandro, we are presenting an emergency resolution to strip him of his executive powers and appoint myself as the new Chief Executive Officer.”
A murmur broke out among the board members. Several older directors, loyal to Alejandro, frowned and shook their heads.
“This is highly irregular, Diego,” muttered Don Fernando, the oldest board member. “Where is Alejandro? We cannot vote without his presence or a formal proxy.”
“You won't need a proxy, Don Fernando,” a cold, commanding voice echoed from the doorway.
All heads snapped toward the entrance.
Alejandro walked in. He didn't look like a defeated man facing ruin. He walked with absolute authority, his posture straight, his eyes locked straight ahead. He carried a single manila folder in his left hand.
Diego’s smile faltered for a fraction of a second, but he quickly recovered, chuckling nervously. “Ah, brother! Look who decided to show up to his own funeral. Sit down, Alejandro. Save yourself the public humiliation and sign the resignation papers.”
Alejandro ignored him entirely. He walked up to the head of the table, pulled out his chair, and sat down calmly. He placed the manila folder on the polished mahogany surface and clasped his hands together.
“You look very confident, Diego,” Alejandro said smoothly, his voice carrying clearly across the silent room. “You and Mother both. You planned this for months, didn't you? Siphoning fourteen million pesos, forging my signature on asset transfers, and threatening me with fabricated tax evasion claims.”
Ofelia slammed her hand on the table, her face turning crimson. “How dare you speak to your mother that way! You ungrateful bastard! Everything you have came from my womb! Without us, you’d still be eating beans in that miserable shack!”
“Silence, woman,” Alejandro barked, his voice cracking like a whip. The sheer intensity of his tone made Ofelia flinch back into her chair, entirely stunned.
“Directors,” Alejandro said, opening the folder and sliding copies of the documents down the long table. “What you are looking at is the forensic audit of our company accounts conducted over the last forty-eight hours. It details systematic embezzlement, grand larceny, and corporate fraud totaling over 14.2 million pesos, spearheaded by my brother Diego and aided by my mother.”
Diego leaped to his feet, turning pale. “Lies! That’s a complete fabrication! Don't listen to him—he’s losing his mind because his wife is a gold-digging peasant!”
“Is it a fabrication, Diego?” Alejandro asked softly. He pressed a button on the conference room console.
