Chapter 8 - A New Dawn in San PedroSix months later.

The morning sun cast a golden glow across the expansive green lawn of the Villarreal estate in San Pedro Garza García. The air was crisp, filled with the gentle chirping of birds and the soft, gurgling laughter of a healthy, beautiful newborn baby girl kicking her tiny legs in her crib.

Alejandro stood by the nursery window, holding a cup of black coffee while watching the driveway.

Behind him, Mariana walked in, looking radiant and strong, carrying baby Sofia in her arms. Her ankles were no longer swollen, her spirit was unbreakable, and her smile lit up the entire room.

“The courier just dropped off the final court judgment from the judge in Monterrey,” Mariana said calmly, handing a small white envelope to her husband.

Alejandro opened it.

The verdict was final: Ofelia and Diego had been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for grand embezzlement and corporate fraud, with all their hidden assets permanently frozen and liquidated to pay restitution to the state and the company. There would be no early parole. No bail. Justice had run its course with absolute precision.

Alejandro tossed the paperwork into the shredding basket, walked over to his wife, and wrapped his arms around both her and their daughter, pulling them close against his chest.

“Let’s forget them, my love,” Alejandro whispered, kissing the top of Mariana’s head. “They were just a bad chapter in a very long book.”

Mariana smiled, leaning her head against his shoulder as she looked out at the majestic mountains rising in the distance.

“No, Alejandro,” she corrected gently, her eyes sparkling with quiet strength. “They weren't a bad chapter. They were just the reminder of how hard we fought to get here... and how unbreakable we truly are.”

Down below, the gates of the estate stood tall, solid, and secure, protecting a family that had survived the ultimate betrayal and emerged stronger than ever before.
