CHAPTER 7 — They Came to Bury Vincent… Instead, They Buried a Legend

The black coffin arrived at Torino Manor before sunrise.

News spread through the criminal underworld faster than wildfire.

Vincent Torino was dead.

Within hours, every mafia family, corrupt politician, billionaire financier, and cartel representative received the same invitation.

A private funeral.

No media.

No questions.

Exactly as The Chairman had planned.

From a hidden command center beneath an abandoned subway station, Vincent watched everything through dozens of live security feeds.

"They believed it," Marco whispered.

Vincent nodded.

"They wanted me dead."

"So let them celebrate."

Emma stood beside him, carefully adjusting an earpiece.

"What about Sophia?"

"She's inside."

At that exact moment, the screen showed Sophia dressed entirely in black, greeting mourners at the mansion entrance.

She looked every bit like a grieving sister.

Only Vincent knew the truth.

She was wearing a hidden camera.

Every handshake...

Every whispered conversation...

Every face entering the mansion was being recorded.

Then...

A convoy of identical black sedans rolled through the gates.

No flags.

No license plates.

Every guard instantly lowered their heads.

Sophia's breathing became heavier.

"He's here..."

Vincent leaned closer to the monitor.

The rear door slowly opened.

An elderly gentleman stepped out.

Simple gray suit.

Silver cane.

White gloves.

No bodyguards.

No visible weapons.

Yet hundreds of armed men instinctively stepped aside.

No one spoke.

No one even dared to look directly at him.

Emma whispered,

"That's him..."

"The Chairman."

For forty-five years, the invisible ruler of organized crime had remained a ghost.

Now, for the first time...

Vincent finally saw the man who had stolen his life.

The Chairman slowly approached Vincent's coffin.

He gently rested one hand on the polished wood.

Then smiled.

"My greatest creation..."

"...finally served its purpose."

Vincent's blood turned cold.

"Creation?"

The Chairman continued speaking softly, unaware every word was being recorded.

"Salvatore was weak."

"Adrian was sentimental."

"But Vincent..."

"He became exactly what I designed."

Emma covered her mouth.

Marco slammed his fist against the table.

"He really created you."

The Chairman turned toward the assembled crime bosses.

"Ladies and gentlemen..."

"The Torino Empire now belongs to Luca."

Applause erupted throughout the mansion.

Luca stepped forward wearing an expensive black suit.

He looked victorious.

Proud.

Untouchable.

The Chairman placed one hand on Luca's shoulder.

"Rule wisely."

"You are my finest student."

Vincent stared silently.

"So Luca never wanted power."

"He wanted approval."

Sophia subtly adjusted her necklace camera.

Everything was still streaming live.

Suddenly...

One of Marco's technicians gasped.

"Boss..."

"You need to see this."

He switched to another camera hidden inside the mansion's old library.

The screen revealed something impossible.

A hidden elevator beneath the fireplace had opened.

Several armed men wheeled out dozens of steel cases.

Each case carried the same emblem.

A silver chess king.

Emma frowned.

"What are those?"

Marco zoomed in.

His face lost all color.

"They're not weapons..."

"They're files."

Thousands of sealed dossiers.

Every politician.

Every judge.

Every police chief.

Every mafia boss.

Every billionaire.

Every secret.

The Chairman hadn't controlled the world with guns.

He controlled it with blackmail.

Vincent finally understood.

"This was never a mafia empire..."

"It was an intelligence empire."

Then...

A little girl wandered into the funeral hall.

No older than eight.

Blonde hair.

Blue dress.

Holding a stuffed rabbit.

She quietly walked toward Vincent's coffin.

No one recognized her.

Not even Sophia.

The Chairman suddenly turned pale.

For the first time...

The old man looked afraid.

The little girl looked directly at him and smiled.

Then she asked one innocent question.

"Grandpa..."

"Why did you lie about my daddy?"

The entire funeral froze.

The Chairman's cane slipped from his hand.

Luca looked utterly confused.

"What... did she just say?"

The little girl pointed at The Chairman.

Then at Vincent's coffin.

"My mommy said..."

"...he's my real grandpa."

Silence.

The Chairman whispered one word.

May you like

"No..."
