CHAPTER 2 – The Secret Hidden Inside the Maid's Necklace

The mansion erupted into chaos.
Bodyguards sprinted through smoke-filled hallways.
Servants screamed.
Emergency lights flashed crimson against walls once decorated with priceless paintings.
Outside, gunfire suddenly echoed from the front gate.
Vincent glanced through the shattered window.
His own guards...
...were shooting at each other.
"They've split into two sides," Elena said quietly.
"They're eliminating witnesses."
Vincent looked at her sharply.
"You know far too much."
"I know enough to keep you alive."
He grabbed her wrist.
"No more riddles."
"Who are you?"
Instead of answering...
Elena reached beneath the collar of her faded maid's uniform.
She removed an old silver necklace.
Inside the pendant was a photograph.
A tiny picture of a woman holding a newborn baby.
Vincent's face went pale.
He knew that photograph.
Impossible.
He had burned every copy twenty-six years ago.
His voice cracked.
"Where... did you get that?"
"My mother."
Vincent's breathing became uneven.
"No."
"That's impossible."
"My daughter died."
Elena looked directly into his eyes.
"No..."
"She was stolen."
Time itself seemed to stop.
Vincent staggered backward.
Twenty-six years earlier...
His wife and newborn daughter had disappeared after a mysterious warehouse fire.
His advisors had claimed both were dead.
Only ashes had been recovered.
Broken by grief, Vincent had buried two empty coffins and devoted his life entirely to building an empire no one would ever threaten again.
Now...
The impossible stood in front of him.
"My mother's name was Isabella."
Vincent's knees nearly gave out.
Only four people had ever known that name.
Three were dead.
The fourth...
...was his trusted consigliere, Marco Bellini.
The man who had helped him through every major decision.
The man who had convinced him the bodies were too badly burned to identify.
The man who had quietly taken control of Vincent's organization while he mourned.
Elena opened another file on her phone.
Hidden surveillance.
Old bank transfers.
Forged death certificates.
DNA reports.
Each document pointed to one horrifying truth.
Marco had staged the fire.
He had kidnapped Vincent's wife and infant daughter.
When Isabella resisted, she was murdered.
The baby was secretly handed to an orphanage under a false identity.
Marco had waited decades for the perfect moment to seize the empire.
The bombing tonight wasn't revenge.
It was the final move in a twenty-six-year-long conspiracy.
Vincent's hands shook with rage.
"I trusted him..."
Elena nodded sadly.
"He didn't build your empire with you."
"He built a prison around you."
Before Vincent could speak—
His encrypted phone vibrated.
A live video call.
Marco.
Smiling.
Behind him stood dozens of armed men inside Vincent's underground headquarters.
"Good evening, old friend."
"I assume you've met the maid."
Vincent's eyes narrowed.
"What do you want?"
Marco laughed.
"I don't want your money."
"I already own it."
He pressed a button.
Behind him, screens displayed every offshore account, every warehouse, every hidden safe house.
"They've all been transferred."
"Every lieutenant now works for me."
"Every judge you've paid now answers to someone else."
"You never ruled this empire..."
"You were only the face of it."
Vincent stared in disbelief.
Everything...
His fortune.
His soldiers.
His influence.
His power.
Gone in a single night.
Then Marco smiled one final time and delivered the sentence that shattered what remained of Vincent's world.
"Oh... and there's one more thing."
"The maid didn't come here to save your empire."
May you like
"She came here..."
"...to destroy it from the inside."
