CHAPTER 6 – “THE REAL HEIR”

Three days later...

Ryan received an official letter.

His hands trembled as he opened it.

It came from the Bennett Family Trust.

He expected an apology.

Instead...

He found a notice of permanent removal from every family-owned company.

His shares...

Gone.

His executive position...

Terminated.

His access cards...

Canceled.

Every benefit...

Revoked.

At the bottom was Margaret's signature.

Ryan drove straight to the Bennett Estate.

He stormed into the mansion.

"Aunt Margaret!"

"You can't do this!"

Margaret was sitting peacefully in the library, reading a book.

Without looking up, she asked,

"Can't I?"

Ryan slammed the papers onto the table.

"I built those companies!"

Margaret finally looked at him.

"No."

"You managed them."

"I built them."

Ryan's face turned red.

"My father promised they would be mine!"

Margaret slowly opened an old leather box.

Inside were dozens of photographs.

One showed a young Margaret standing beside construction workers at the company's very first building site.

Another showed Ryan's late father signing documents.

Margaret handed him one faded letter.

"It was your father's final request."

Ryan unfolded it.

His father's handwriting filled the page.

"Margaret... if Ryan ever values power more than kindness, never let him inherit what our family built."

Ryan couldn't breathe.

Margaret continued quietly.

"I spent years hoping you would prove him wrong."

"You never did."

Ryan fell into the chair.

"So... who inherits everything now?"

Margaret smiled gently.

"The person who showed dignity when everyone else chose cruelty."

Ryan frowned.

"What are you talking about?"

Just then...

The library doors opened.

Emily walked in.

Ryan's eyes widened.

"You...?"

Margaret stood.

"For months before the wedding, Emily worked anonymously in our charitable foundation."

"She visited children's hospitals."

"She volunteered at homeless shelters."

"She refused publicity."

"I watched her carefully."

Ryan stared in disbelief.

Margaret walked over to Emily and handed her a blue folder.

Inside was a document officially naming Emily as the new Chairwoman of the Bennett Family Foundation—a charitable organization controlling billions of dollars in humanitarian projects around the world.

Ryan whispered,

"This... this was supposed to be mine..."

Emily looked at him calmly.

"No, Ryan."

"It was only ever meant for someone worthy of it."

Ryan lowered his head.

For the first time...

No excuses came.

No laughter.

No arrogance.

Only silence.

Because the greatest fortune he had lost...

May you like

Was never the money.

It was the woman who had truly loved him.
