The airport became eerily silent.
Even Victoria stopped talking.
Ethan unfolded the tiny paper with trembling fingers.
Only one sentence was written inside.
"They made me leave... I never stopped loving you."
His vision blurred.
The handwriting...
It was Emily's.
Without thinking, he looked at Lily.
"Where's your mother?"
The little girl lowered her eyes.
"She's sick."
Those two words shattered him.
"Mom worked three jobs because she said you were a good man... and one day we'd find you."
Ethan couldn't breathe.
Nothing made sense.

On the back, written in Emily's handwriting, were six devastating words:
"If we get separated... find Daniel."
Ethan's face turned pale.

The same man who had disappeared without a trace three years later.
For the first time, Ethan realized something horrifying.
He had never actually spoken to Emily after the day she vanished.
Someone had spoken for her.

Someone had stolen five years from their family.
As Ethan looked into Lily's tear-filled eyes, he made a promise that would destroy the lives of everyone involved.
"I don't care who did this."
"I'll bring your mother home."
Neither Ethan nor Lily noticed the expression on Victoria's face.
