CHAPTER 2 — The Man Behind the Mask

The masked figure walked calmly through the hospital corridor as alarms echoed in the distance.
No one questioned him.
He wore the white coat perfectly.
His hospital ID looked authentic.
Even the security guards stepped aside.
Only one person knew something was terribly wrong.
The old janitor.
Years before retiring, he had spent three decades working as a military investigator. Age had slowed his body—but never his instincts.
He grabbed the emergency phone.
"Lock every exit," he ordered.
The guard laughed.
"You're just the janitor."
Before anyone listened...
the masked doctor disappeared into the intensive care wing.
Inside the operating room, Lily's heartbeat became weaker every second.
The surgeons couldn't understand why every treatment was failing.
"It's like something is fighting every medication," one doctor shouted.
Then the chief surgeon discovered a strange puncture mark hidden beneath Lily's sleeve.
His face turned white.
"Someone injected her."
Back across town, Michael stood in a boardroom presenting a billion-dollar deal.
His speech stopped when his assistant rushed inside.
"Sir... your daughter may not survive the night."
Michael's briefcase slipped from his hand.
Without another word, he ran.
But another shock was waiting.
When he reached the hospital, police officers were already there.
His partner Daniel stood beside them, pretending to comfort everyone.
"I can't believe Michael abandoned his daughter," Daniel sighed dramatically.
"He cared more about money than family."
Reporters captured every second.
Within minutes, Michael became the villain across social media.
He tried to explain, but nobody believed him.
Just then...
the old janitor stepped forward holding a small flash drive.
"I have the security footage."
The room fell silent.
Daniel's confident smile disappeared for the first time.
The video began to play.
Everyone watched the masked doctor approach Lily.
Everyone watched the syringe.
Then...
the doctor briefly lifted his mask while passing the camera.
Michael felt his blood turn to ice.
It wasn't a stranger.
It wasn't a hospital employee.
It was someone from his own company...
Someone he had trusted for more than fifteen years.
And Daniel suddenly whispered under his breath,
"...How did they get that footage?"
The old janitor slowly turned toward him.
"Interesting."
"I never said the video showed your face."
Silence.
Every eye in the room shifted toward Daniel.
May you like
His expression said everything.
The real nightmare had only just begun...
