CHAPTER 4 — The DNA Test That Destroyed Every Lie

The room fell into complete silence.

Michael stared at the bloody words smeared across the glass.

SHE WAS NEVER YOUR DAUGHTER.

His knees nearly gave out.

Lily squeezed his hand.

"Daddy... don't believe him."

But Daniel's words had already planted a seed of doubt.

An hour later, police found Daniel's abandoned car burning near the river.

Inside...

There was no body.

Only a laptop.

The detectives recovered a deleted video recorded just hours earlier.

Daniel smiled into the camera.

"If you're watching this, you've already seen my message."

"You'll waste the rest of your life wondering whether Lily is really yours."

Michael slammed the laptop shut.

"No."

"I'm ending this today."

The next morning, he ordered an emergency DNA test.

Everyone waited in unbearable silence.

Twelve endless hours later...

The laboratory director entered the room carrying a sealed envelope.

Michael could barely breathe.

His hands trembled as he opened it.

Then...

His face turned completely white.

Probability of paternity: 0.00%.

Lily wasn't his biological daughter.

The room exploded into chaos.

Reporters outside somehow learned about the results within minutes.

Breaking News flashed across every television.

"Billionaire CEO Raises Another Man's Child for Eight Years!"

Michael couldn't hear the cameras.

He couldn't hear the reporters shouting questions.

He could only hear Lily crying.

"Daddy..."

"Are you leaving me too?"

Those words shattered him.

Michael knelt beside her hospital bed and wrapped his arms around her.

"I don't care what a piece of paper says."

"You became my daughter the day I held you in my arms."

"No test can ever change that."

Lily burst into tears.

For a brief moment...

it seemed the nightmare was finally over.

Then the hospital doors burst open.

An elegant woman wearing a black coat walked inside, surrounded by armed federal agents.

She placed another envelope on Michael's lap.

"I think your laboratory tested the wrong people."

Michael frowned.

"What are you talking about?"

The woman slowly removed her sunglasses.

"My name is Victoria Hale."

"I'm the director of the National DNA Forensics Division."

She slid the second report across the bed.

"The first DNA test was replaced."

"This..."

"...is the real one."

Michael opened the report.

His eyes widened.

Lily was his biological daughter.

Someone inside the laboratory had switched the samples.

Victoria looked directly at him.

"And we know exactly who paid them."

She handed him one final photograph.

Michael's heart nearly stopped.

Standing beside Daniel...

smiling at the camera...

was Michael's own younger brother.

The brother everyone believed had died...

May you like

ten years ago.
