CHAPTER 1 – THE NIGHT HE THOUGHT HE HAD WON

The blood on Emily's white silk robe wasn't hers.

At least, not all of it.

She stood trembling in the middle of their luxury kitchen, tears streaming down her face as her husband, Daniel, stared at her with cold, emotionless eyes.

"You need to stop asking questions," he said quietly.

Emily's voice shook.

"I found the bank transfers... millions of dollars disappearing. I found the fake insurance policy... and I know why you wanted me to sign those papers."

Daniel slowly walked closer.

For five years, he had played the perfect husband—the successful businessman, the caring partner, the charming gentleman everyone admired.

But tonight, the mask was gone.

"You were never supposed to open that drawer."

Emily stepped backward until she hit the marble island.

"I trusted you..."

"And that," Daniel smiled, "was your biggest mistake."

Moments earlier, Emily had discovered a hidden safe behind a painting in Daniel's office.

Inside were passports under different names.

Secret offshore accounts.

Photos of Daniel with another woman.

And one horrifying document...

A life insurance policy worth $25 million with Emily as the insured—and Daniel as the only beneficiary.

Before she could escape, Daniel caught her.

A struggle followed.

A wine glass shattered.

Emily's arm was sliced open.

Blood splashed across her robe and the white kitchen floor.

Now Daniel calmly pulled out his phone.

"I already called 911."

Emily looked at him in confusion.

"You... called the police?"

Daniel nodded.

"I'm going to tell them you had a mental breakdown... attacked me... and accidentally injured yourself."

His story was perfect.

No witnesses.

No fingerprints except theirs.

No evidence that would survive.

Emily realized he hadn't just planned to steal her fortune.

He had planned to erase her completely.

Then Daniel leaned close enough for her to hear only one sentence.

"By sunrise... everyone will believe you're insane."

Emily's world collapsed.

But Daniel had overlooked one tiny detail.

May you like

Something hidden inside the house...

Something that had recorded everything.
