Chapter 10 - THE FIRST SUNRISE

The first rays of spring sunlight cut sharply through the heavy silk curtains of the Tribeca penthouse, washing the hardwood floors in a warm, golden hue.
The city below was waking up, its endless rhythm humming with the quiet energy of a new day.
Inside the master nursery, painted in soft tones of sage and ivory, the room was filled with the gentle, rhythmic sound of two tiny, steady breaths.
Olivia sat in a comfortable rocking chair by the window, holding two swaddled bundles close to her chest.
Arthur was sleeping soundly, his tiny fist curled against his cheek, while Eleanor stirred slightly, her dark eyelashes fluttering open to reveal eyes as bright and clear as the morning sky.
The door opened silently, and Marcus Vance stepped in, holding a fresh cup of coffee and a thick envelope with a federal seal.
"The final patent transfers from the Hayes liquidation have been officially approved and archived under the children’s trust," Marcus whispered, smiling as he looked down at the twins. "Every single asset is secure."
Olivia looked down at her son and daughter, feeling a deep, unshakeable wave of peace wash over her soul.
The past—the leaking coffee maker in Queens, the late nights of editing investor pitches, the shattered champagne glass at the Plaza, and the bitter cold of a man who had lost his way—felt like a lifetime ago, belonging to another person in another world.
She pressed a soft kiss to Eleanor’s forehead, then to Arthur’s downy hair.

"Thank you, Marcus," Olivia said softly, her voice steady and brimming with quiet power. "We don't need to look back anymore."
She turned her gaze back to the towering glass windows, watching the sun climb higher over the Manhattan skyline, illuminating a future that was entirely, beautifully, and unbreakably her own.
