CHAPTER 3 – The Stranger at the Door

The door burst open.

Ethan grabbed the brass key and stepped back as a tall man in a black coat entered the mansion.

“Give me the box,” the stranger said.

Ethan’s voice shook. “Who are you?”

The man smiled coldly.

“Someone your grandmother should have feared.”

Before Ethan could run, the priest stood in front of him.

“Ethan, go!”

The stranger pulled something from his coat, and the priest’s face turned pale.

Ethan didn’t wait.

He ran through the back hallway, clutching the letter and the key. Behind him, furniture crashed. Glass shattered. Then he heard the priest scream his name.

Ethan escaped into the storm and drove straight to Union Station.

Locker 217 stood at the end of a forgotten corridor.

His hands trembled as he inserted the key.

Inside was a leather folder.

Photos. Bank records. Death certificates.

And one shocking document with his name on it.

Ethan Harper — sole heir to Harper Industries.

But the biggest shock was the final photo.

It showed his parents alive… standing beside a little girl.
