CHAPTER 6: THE DNA REPORT THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

The private jet disappeared into the clouds.

No flight plan.

No transponder.

No destination.

To the outside world...

Adrian Blackwood had vanished.

But Emily knew one thing.

He hadn't run away.

He was heading toward something.

Or someone.

The next morning...

Samuel returned to the abandoned maternity clinic mentioned in the photograph.

The building had been closed for nearly a decade.

Broken windows.

Dust-covered corridors.

Rusted medical equipment.

It looked abandoned.

Yet someone had recently been there.

Fresh footprints crossed the dusty floor.

Coffee cups still warm sat beside a computer.

Someone had left only minutes earlier.

Deep inside the records room...

Samuel found a hidden basement.

Behind a collapsed filing cabinet stood an old biometric vault.

Most of the files had been burned.

Except one.

A sealed envelope marked:

LILY CARTER — CONFIDENTIAL DNA FILE

Emily's hands shook as she opened it.

Inside...

Two DNA profiles.

One belonged to Emily.

The other...

Wasn't Adrian's.

Emily stared at the report.

"No..."

"This has to be wrong."

Samuel checked the authentication seal.

"It's genuine."

Lily...

Was not Adrian Blackwood's biological daughter.

The room fell silent.

Emily whispered,

"But Adrian always believed she was."

Samuel looked closer.

Then noticed one missing page.

"The father's identity was removed."

Someone had deliberately erased the name.

At that exact moment...

Detective Ross burst into the basement.

"You need to see this."

He handed Emily a tablet.

Live news coverage.

A luxury casino in Monaco.

Hundreds of wealthy guests attended an exclusive charity gala.

Then the camera zoomed in.

Standing beside the mysterious woman in the red veil...

Was Adrian.

Alive.

Smiling.

As though yesterday had never happened.

But it wasn't Adrian that made Emily gasp.

Standing behind him...

Was an elderly man in a white suit.

Samuel dropped the tablet.

"I know him..."

Ross frowned.

"Who?"

Samuel whispered,

"Richard Ashcroft."

"The man everyone believes died twenty years ago."

Ross's eyes widened.

"The founder of Blackwood Global?"

Samuel nodded slowly.

"No."

"He founded something much bigger."

"He built the organization that controls judges, senators, banks..."

"And Adrian was never the leader."

"He was only the public face."

Emily stared speechlessly at the screen.

Everything she had fought for...

Everything she believed she understood...

Had been only the surface.

Then the live broadcast abruptly changed.

Richard Ashcroft looked directly into the television camera.

As if speaking to Emily herself.

He smiled.

Then calmly said,

"Bring the child to me."

"Or I'll tell her who her real father is."

The broadcast ended.

Emily collapsed into a chair.

Lily quietly walked over and wrapped her small arms around her mother.

"Mommy..."

"Why is everyone talking about me?"

Emily hugged her daughter tightly, tears filling her eyes.

"I don't know anymore, sweetheart..."

"I don't know."

Far away, aboard a yacht in the Mediterranean...

Richard Ashcroft raised a crystal glass.

Adrian stood silently beside him.

Richard smiled at the endless ocean.

"The wedding was only Act One."

"Now..."

May you like

"Let's begin the real game."
