Chapter 6 - The Snake in the NestAlessandro looked across the rainy pier toward the tactical command van parked two hundred yards away.

Marco Rossi was sitting inside that van, controlling the communications, the sniper teams, and the live feeds to Italy!
“Victor! GET DOWN!” Alessandro screamed.
Before Victor could react, a high-velocity sniper bullet shattered the driver-side window of the command van. But it didn't come from an enemy.
Inside the van, Marco Rossi calmly removed his tactical headset. A cold, ruthless smile spread across his face as he looked at the primary laptop monitor.
Marco pressed a key on his encrypted pad. Instantly, the sniper team on the rooftops went silent—their comms jammed from within.
Alessandro sprinted toward the command van like a wild beast, pulling his gun. But Marco didn’t run. He locked the armored doors of the van from the inside and picked up a megaphone attached to the vehicle’s roof.
His voice echoed sinisterly across the misty harbor.
“Impressive, Alessandro. Truly impressive,” Marco’s voice boomed over the speaker. “You always were sharper than your father. But you were too blind to see what was right in front of you.”
Alessandro slammed his fist against the bulletproof glass of the van window. “MARCO! You backstabbing dog! I treated you like a brother!”
“Brother?!” Marco spat through the speaker, his eyes gleaming with psychotic rage. “Your father murdered my family twenty years ago during the Brooklyn purge to take full control of the syndicate! I spent two decades crawling through the dirt, serving you, taking your orders, waiting for the perfect moment to destroy everything you love!”
Marco held up a small detonator remote inside the van.
“I framed Victor because I knew his sister’s family in Italy would create the perfect chaos. I knew you’d leave the Long Island estate unprotected!” Marco sneered. “And while you were playing hero down here at Pier 42…”
Marco gestured to a secondary monitor displaying a live security feed from Safehouse Alpha in upstate New York—where Maria and six-year-old Sophie were being held.
On the screen, four masked mercenaries were breaking through the front door of the safehouse!
“Sophie Alvarez saved your life tonight by finding that bomb under your desk,” Marco chuckled darkly. “So I decided her mother and her would pay the price for meddling in my game. My men are inside Safehouse Alpha right now. In ten minutes, they die. And in five minutes, the bomb in Florence detonates!”
