Beside him, Vanessa Cole’s face had drained of all color. Her gaze darted between the $998,000.00 itemized receipt and the nervous waiter whose hands were tucked behind his back.

“This is a mistake,” Daniel spat, his voice cracking beneath the pressure of onlookers watching from adjacent private booths. “Do you know who I am? I am the senior partner at Whitmore & Hayes Logistics! Call your manager immediately.”

“Sir,” the maître d' stepped forward, his tone diplomatic yet razor-sharp. “Management has already reviewed the transaction. The card issuer did not simply reject the payment; they flagged the account for attempted grand larceny and fraud. Furthermore, Ms. Emily Hayes—the sole proprietor of the corporate account—has officially revoked your membership access as of 5:15 PM today.”

Vanessa gasped, clutching her newly fitted $640,000 sapphire necklace as if the waiter might yank it off her neck. “Daniel… what is he talking about? You said this was your account!”
