CHAPTER 3 — THE BABY HE TRIED TO KILL
Ethan staggered backward as Amelia walked into the ballroom.
“No…” he whispered. “You’re dead.”
Amelia smiled coldly.
“You made one mistake, Ethan.”
The screens behind her changed again.
This time, they showed bank records, forged signatures, secret payments, and the faces of the men who had thrown her into the sea.
Then the final video played.
Ethan’s voice filled the room.
“She’s worth more dead than alive.”
The guests screamed.
Reporters rushed forward.
Police officers entered through every exit.
Ethan tried to run, but two detectives grabbed him before he reached the door.
“You don’t understand!” he shouted. “She planned this!”
Amelia stepped closer.
“No. You planned a funeral.”
Then she placed one hand on her stomach.
“I planned a future.”
The room went silent.
Ethan’s eyes dropped.
“You’re still…”
“Yes,” Amelia said. “Our child survived.”
For the first time, Ethan looked truly terrified.
Because murder was one crime.
Trying to kill an unborn heir to a billion-dollar empire was something the world would never forgive.
But Amelia had one more secret.
She turned to the crowd and said:
“Before my father died, he changed the company’s ownership. Ethan never owned Caldwell Global.”
She paused.
“My child does.”
Ethan collapsed to his knees.
