CHAPTER 7 — THE SECRET BUNKER BENEATH THE FIRE

04:21...
The countdown echoed through every room.
Smoke poured from the ceilings as flames raced through the mansion.
Amelia clutched her son tightly.
"We're trapped."
Ethan stared at the emergency blueprints he had stolen from Victoria's safe.
Then his eyes widened.
"There is another way."
He pointed to a faded symbol beneath the grand staircase.
"My mother built this house."
"She always prepared an escape route."
Without another second to waste, Ethan smashed the marble floor with a steel fire axe.
One strike.
Two strikes.
Three.
Suddenly...
The marble cracked open.
Hidden beneath it was a massive steel hatch.
A biometric scanner flashed to life.
ACCESS DENIED.
Ethan cursed.
"It only recognizes Victoria."
Amelia suddenly remembered something.
During every family dinner, Victoria always insisted on holding her grandson's tiny hand.
At the time, Amelia thought it was affection.
Now she realized...
Victoria had secretly registered the baby's fingerprints as a backup key.
With trembling hands, Amelia placed her son's tiny palm against the scanner.
ACCESS GRANTED.
The hatch slowly opened.
A hidden elevator descended into darkness.
02:37...
The three of them rushed inside.
The heavy door slammed shut just as an explosion ripped through the mansion above.
The elevator shook violently before finally stopping hundreds of feet underground.
When the doors opened...
Amelia couldn't believe her eyes.
It wasn't an escape tunnel.
It was an underground command center.
Rows of computers.
Private surveillance satellites.
Wall-sized maps.
Vaults filled with gold bars, passports, diamonds, and stacks of classified government files.
Victoria hadn't built a family empire.
She had built a criminal empire.
Then Amelia noticed something even more terrifying.
An enormous digital screen suddenly lit up by itself.
Victoria appeared live on the monitor.
She smiled calmly.
"Congratulations."
"You found my real office."
Ethan shouted,
"It's over, Victoria!"
She laughed.
"No, Ethan."
"It has only just begun."
She pressed another button.
Dozens of hidden screens activated across the room.
Each one showed a different location around the world.
London.
Dubai.
Tokyo.
New York.
Private compounds.
Secret warehouses.
Luxury yachts.
Every one of them belonged to Victoria.
"I've spent thirty years building an empire that doesn't exist on paper."
She leaned closer to the camera.
"You destroyed one house."
"You haven't even touched my kingdom."
Then she revealed her final card.
A photograph appeared on every screen.
Amelia froze.
It was her father.
Alive.
The timestamp on the image was only three days old.
Tears filled Amelia's eyes.
"That's impossible..."
"I buried him."
Victoria smiled.
"You buried an empty coffin."
"Your father has been my prisoner for fifteen years."
The room fell completely silent.
Everything Amelia believed about her life...
Her inheritance...
Even her father's death...
Had been a lie.
Then another voice suddenly echoed from the darkness behind them.
Soft.
Weak.
But unmistakable.
"Amelia..."
She slowly turned around.
An elderly man stepped out of the shadows, his beard long, his clothes torn, his body covered in scars.
He looked straight into her eyes.
"My little girl..."
"It's really you."
Amelia dropped to her knees.
"Dad...?"
The man nodded with tears streaming down his face.
But before they could embrace...
The entire bunker shook violently.
A deafening alarm echoed through the underground facility.
WARNING. SELF-DESTRUCTION OF THE UNDERGROUND COMPLEX INITIATED.
Victoria's final laugh echoed through the speakers.
May you like
"If I can't keep my secrets..."
"None of you will leave here alive."
