CHAPTER 5 – The Boy Called Someone Else "Dad"

Jonathan's private jet landed less than an hour later.

Emily sat beside him in complete silence, replaying the hospital footage over and over in her mind.

A mother who was supposed to be dead.

A little boy who looked exactly like Jonathan.

And fifteen years of lies that were beginning to unravel.

As they entered the hospital, Jonathan's security team quietly sealed every exit.

No one was leaving until they found Sarah.

Room after room...

Floor after floor...

Nothing.

It was as if she had vanished again.

Then a nurse hesitated when Emily showed her Sarah's picture.

"I... I think I've seen her."

Jonathan stepped closer.

"Where?"

The nurse pointed toward the pediatric rehabilitation wing.

"She volunteers there every Thursday."

Emily and Jonathan ran.

When they reached the hallway, they froze.

Sarah was sitting on a bench, reading a storybook to the little boy from the security footage.

She looked older.

Her face carried years of pain.

But her smile...

It was the same smile Jonathan had fallen in love with twenty years earlier.

"Sarah..."

She slowly looked up.

The book slipped from her hands.

Tears instantly filled her eyes.

"Jonathan..."

For a moment, nobody moved.

Then Emily whispered through her tears,

"Mom..."

Sarah broke down crying as she wrapped both of them in the tightest embrace imaginable.

Fifteen years of heartbreak disappeared in a single moment.

Or so they thought.

The little boy looked at Jonathan with confusion.

Then he grabbed Sarah's hand.

"Mom..."

He pointed toward another man walking down the hallway.

"Dad is here."

Jonathan turned around.

A middle-aged doctor was smiling as he approached.

He gently placed his hand on Sarah's shoulder.

"You should've called me."

Jonathan's face hardened.

"Who are you?"

Before Sarah could answer, the little boy hugged the doctor tightly.

"I missed you, Dad."

The hallway fell silent.

Jonathan felt his heart shatter for the second time.

Had Sarah built another family?

Or was there another truth still waiting to be uncovered?

The doctor looked directly at Jonathan...

Then quietly said,

"If you want the whole story... you're going to hate what your best friend Richard did to all of us."

At that exact moment, Jonathan's phone rang.

It was the police.

Richard Voss had escaped from custody.

And according to surveillance footage...

He was already on his way to the hospital.
