CHAPTER 6 – Richard's Final Secret Changed Everything

CHAPTER 6 – Richard's Final Secret Changed Everything
Hospital alarms echoed through every hallway.
"Lock every entrance!" a security officer shouted.
Doctors rushed frightened patients into protected rooms while Jonathan's bodyguards surrounded Sarah, Emily, and the little boy.
Jonathan looked at the doctor.
"You have thirty seconds. Tell me who you are."
The doctor extended his hand.
"My name is Dr. Michael Carter."
"I'm not Sarah's husband."
Jonathan frowned.
"Then why does my son call you Dad?"
Michael smiled sadly.
"Because someone had to."
The hallway fell silent.
Sarah squeezed Jonathan's hand and finally revealed the truth she had buried for fifteen years.
"The night Richard framed you, he didn't just steal your company."
"He hired men to kill our entire family."
"I escaped with both of our children."
Jonathan's eyes widened.
"Both...?"
Sarah nodded through tears.
"I was already pregnant."
Jonathan staggered backward.
"I never knew..."
"You weren't supposed to."
Sarah continued.
"Richard had people watching every airport, every bank account, every phone call."
"If he discovered I was carrying your son, he would have murdered him before he was born."
She looked toward Dr. Carter.
"Michael forged our identities."
"He pretended to be Ethan's father."
"He gave us a new life."
"He sacrificed his own career and reputation just to keep us alive."
Jonathan slowly walked toward Michael.
Instead of anger...
He embraced him.
"Thank you for protecting my family when I couldn't."
Before Michael could answer—
BOOM!
The hospital's front entrance exploded into chaos.
Glass shattered across the lobby.
Screams filled the air.
Richard Voss walked through the smoke holding a handgun.
His suit was covered in blood.
His eyes were filled with madness.
"It's over, Jonathan!" he shouted.
"You stole everything from me!"
Jonathan stepped forward, shielding Sarah, Emily, and Ethan.
"No."
"You stole your own future the day you betrayed your best friend."
Richard laughed.
"You still don't understand."
He pulled a small black flash drive from his pocket.
"This isn't about your company anymore."
"It's about what was hidden beneath it."
Jonathan's expression changed instantly.
He recognized the drive.
It contained the encrypted files from Hale Dynamics' original research vault—the files that had disappeared the night he was framed.
Richard grinned.
"There are names on this drive."
"Politicians."
"Judges."
"Billionaires."
"People who paid billions to keep their crimes buried."
"Kill me if you want..."
"But if these files become public..."
"The most powerful people in America will fall."
Before anyone could react—
A deafening gunshot rang out.
Richard looked down at his chest in disbelief.
Blood spread across his white shirt.
But Jonathan hadn't fired.
Neither had the police.
Everyone slowly turned toward the hospital entrance.
Standing there...
Was a woman dressed entirely in black.
She lowered the smoking pistol and calmly said,
"I'm sorry, Richard..."
"You were never supposed to survive long enough to tell the truth."
And in that moment...
May you like
Jonathan realized Richard had never been the real mastermind.
He had only been someone else's puppet all along.
