CHAPTER 1: The Perfect Cruise Became Her Death Sentence
Emily Carter thought the luxury yacht trip was her husband's way of saving their broken marriage.
For weeks, Daniel had been distant. The flowers had stopped. The late-night business calls had become routine. Yet that morning, he smiled like the man she had fallen in love with ten years earlier.
"Let's start over," he whispered, kissing her forehead as the yacht sailed into the open sea.
Emily wanted to believe him.
She had no idea she was already attending her own funeral.
As the yacht drifted miles away from shore, Daniel excused himself for a "business call." Moments later, two muscular men she had never seen before walked toward her.
"Excuse me... can I help you?" Emily asked nervously.
Neither man answered.
Instead, one grabbed her left arm.
The other seized her right.
Emily screamed.
"What are you doing? Daniel!"
Her husband slowly stepped out from behind the cabin door... smiling.
Not a nervous smile.
Not a guilty smile.
A victorious one.
"I told you," he said calmly, "everything you own becomes mine if you die accidentally."
Emily's heart stopped.
"You... planned this?"
Daniel shrugged.
"You should've signed the divorce papers. This way is much easier."
Tears streamed down Emily's face.
"I loved you..."
"I know," Daniel replied coldly. "That's why this worked."
The two men dragged her toward the edge of the yacht.
Emily kicked.
Scratched.
Bit one of them hard enough to draw blood.
But she was hopelessly outnumbered.
Her final scream echoed across the empty ocean before they threw her into the freezing water.
She hit the surface like stone.
The world became silent.
Above her, the yacht slowly disappeared into the distance.
As Emily sank deeper into the darkness, she realized the cruelest betrayal wasn't losing her life...
It was realizing the man she would have died for had already sold her soul.
