Chapter 8 - Sunrise Over the Ruins

The morning sun broke over the city skyline, casting a warm, golden glow across the quiet streets. The storm had finally passed, leaving the air crisp and clear.

At the cemetery overlooking the ocean, Vivienne stood before a pristine white marble headstone engraved with the name: CATHERINE VANCE – BELOVED MOTHER, FOREVER FREE.

She placed a single white rose on the cool stone.

Marcus stood a respectful distance away near the waiting black sedan, holding a tablet with the morning’s global headlines.

ALEXANDER VANCE AND ELEANOR ESCALANDO SENTENCED TO LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE.

JULIAN ESCALANDO BEGINS 15-YEAR FEDERAL PRISON TERM.

CATHERINE VANCE FOUNDATION LAUNCHES AS WORLD’S LARGEST INDEPENDENT TECH & CHARITY CONGLOMERATE.

VIVIENNE VANCE NAMED CEO OF THE CENTURY.

Marcus walked up quietly beside her. "The board is waiting for your opening address, Ms. Vance. The entire financial world is watching."

Vivienne smiled softly, looking out at the shimmering ocean waves. "Let them watch."

She turned around, her posture regal, her eyes shining with absolute clarity and strength. The pain, the betrayal, and the lies that had once defined her existence had been burned away in the fire of her own resurrection.

As she stepped into the back of the sedan, Marcus held the door open for her.

"Where to now, ma'am?" Marcus asked with a smile.
