Chapter 6 - THE FINAL TWIST — The Ultimate Sacrifice and a New Dawn

Bang.

The gunshot echoed through the massive warehouse.

Alexander didn't hesitate. He lunged forward, throwing his entire body over Chloe's chair, shielding her as the bullet tore through the air.

But the bullet didn't hit Alexander.

Richard gasped, dropping his weapon as a dark crimson stain bloomed across his own chest. Behind him, Elena stood with a smoking gun, her hands shaking but her eyes laser-focused.

"You were going to kill the girl, Richard," Elena breathed, her voice cracking. "The data is worthless now. But the girls' biological traits... they can still be harvested. I don't need you anymore."

Before Elena could pull the trigger again, the warehouse doors were smashed open. Tactical teams swarmed the building, their weapons raised. "Federal Bureau! Drop your weapon!"

Elena looked at the army of officers surrounding her, realized she was trapped, and slowly dropped the gun, raising her hands in defeat.

Alexander collapsed to his knees beside Chloe, untying her ropes with trembling hands. Chloe threw her arms around his neck, sobbing uncontrollably. "You came back. You promised forever."

"I always keep my promises," Alexander choked out, pressing his face into her hair.

Three Months LaterThe storm had finally passed.

The corporate empire of Blake Medical Systems was dismantled, liquidated by the government to pay for the massive ethical cleanup of Project Genesis. The billionaires on the board were facing decades in federal prison. Alexander Blake was no longer a billionaire. He was no longer a CEO.

He sat on the porch of a modest, sunlit cottage by the coast, far away from the cold glass walls of the city.

Inside, Chloe and Lily were laughing, arguing over who got the last piece of toast. Marcus was at the kitchen table, reading a local newspaper, acting as their self-appointed uncle.

Alexander looked out at the ocean, a peaceful smile on his face. He had lost his company, his wealth, and his reputation. But as Lily and Chloe ran out onto the porch, grabbing his hands to pull him down to the beach, he realized something profound.

He hadn't lost anything at all.
