Chapter 7 - The Mastermind UnmaskedI knew I couldn't sit back and wait for lawyers to play chess with my life.

With the help of a trusted private investigator, I tracked down Dr. Robert Hayes to an exclusive, high-stakes illegal gambling club in upstate New York. He was a man drowning in debt, living off monthly payoffs funneled through a maze of shell corporations linked directly to Arthur Vance.
Dressed incognito, I confronted Dr. Hayes in the quiet VIP lounge of the casino, accompanied by my security team and an independent medical auditor.
"Dr. Hayes," I said, placing a thick folder of his personal bank statements onto his table. "You have thirty seconds to decide whether you want to go to federal prison alongside my husband, or tell the truth about Arthur Vance."
Hayes went pale, dropping his glass of scotch. "How... how did you get those?"
"My aunt Eleanor didn't just keep medical records, Doctor," I said, leaning in close. "She kept audio recordings of every consultation she ever had with you. I found them in her private safe deposit box last night."
That was a calculated bluff. I hadn't found the audio recordings yet, but I knew Hayes’s guilty conscience would make him break.
Hayes collapsed into his chair, sweating profusely. "Arthur promised me two million dollars! He said Eleanor was dying anyway and that nobody would care if I signed a false dementia diagnosis backdated to 2017! He threatened to ruin my medical license if I didn't play along!"
"You're going to sign a sworn affidavit admitting to falsifying those records," I ordered, my voice cold as ice. "And you’re going to present it to the judge tomorrow morning."
The next morning, the courtroom was packed with reporters, corporate executives, and legal teams. Arthur Vance sat at the plaintiff's table, looking triumphant, expecting the judge to grant him full control of the Vance Trust.
When the judge took the bench, my legal team presented the sworn affidavit from Dr. Hayes, along with bank records proving Arthur Vance had paid over $800,000 in bribes to fabricate the dementia diagnosis.
The courtroom erupted into total chaos.
Arthur Vance’s face turned from smug satisfaction to deep, terrified rage. He slammed his silver cane against the floor. "This is a lie! That sniveling doctor is lying!"
"Silence in my court!" the judge thundered, slamming his gavel down repeatedly. "Mr. Vance, not only is your emergency injunction immediately dismissed, but I am referring this matter directly to the State Attorney General for prosecution regarding witness tampering, fraud, and perjury!"
Arthur slumped back into his chair, defeated, his evil empire collapsing around him in a matter of seconds.

Outside the courtroom, reporters swarmed me, cameras flashing relentlessly. I stepped up to the microphone stand, completely composed, looking directly into the cameras—knowing that somewhere in his jail cell, Julian was watching.
"My aunt Eleanor built her fortune on truth, integrity, and resilience," I said clearly to the world. "Many men tried to take it from her, and many men tried to take it from me. They failed. The Vance legacy belongs to my children, and no amount of greed, betrayal, or deceit will ever change that."
