CHAPTER 6 – The Boardroom Betrayal
Three hours later, the executive boardroom on the top floor of Whitmore Aviation Capital was unusually tense.
Twelve directors waited around the polished oak table.
Richard Sloan sat at the head, calm as ever.
When Grant entered, every conversation stopped.
"You canceled Napa?" Richard asked with a smile.
Grant didn't smile back.
Instead, he connected a laptop to the giant screen.
The photograph of Claire and the boys appeared.
Every director looked confused.
"Those," Grant said quietly, "are my sons."
Silence.
Richard folded his hands.
"Congratulations."
Grant clicked again.
Hospital records.
Security footage.
Bank transfers.
Private investigation invoices.
Each document filled the screen.
Faces around the table slowly lost their color.
Grant looked directly at Richard.
"For three years, someone convinced me my family was safer without me."
Richard remained perfectly composed.
"You've become emotional."
"No."
Grant's voice echoed across the room.
"I've become awake."
He pressed one final key.
A hidden audio recording filled the boardroom.
Richard's unmistakable voice spoke through the speakers.
"Keep him traveling. The longer he's away from those children, the easier the succession becomes."
Several directors stood in disbelief.
Richard's calm expression finally cracked.
Grant stepped closer.
"You didn't steal my company."
He paused.
"You stole three years of my children's lives."
Security officers entered the room.
Richard slowly rose from his chair.
"You think this is over?"
Grant's eyes narrowed.
"What does that mean?"
Richard gave a faint smile that sent a chill through the room.
"You still don't know who the boys really are."
Before anyone could stop him, he was escorted toward the door.
As he turned for one last look, he said quietly,
"You've been protecting them from the wrong enemy."
The boardroom fell silent.
Grant stood frozen.
