CHAPTER 1 — HUMILIATED IN THE KITCHEN

The dinner rush had barely begun when the entire restaurant fell silent.

Every chef froze.

Every waiter stopped moving.

The only sound left was the furious voice of Richard Bennett—the owner of Bennett's Steakhouse and one of the most feared restaurateurs in the city.

"You call this food?" Richard shouted, throwing the plate onto the stainless-steel counter. The porcelain shattered into dozens of pieces.

Across from him stood Ethan Bennett, his twenty-three-year-old son.

His chef's jacket was spotless, but his hands trembled.

The staff looked away.

They had seen Richard scream before.

But never like this.

"You've embarrassed this family for the last time," Richard growled. "You don't deserve to wear that jacket."

Without warning, Richard grabbed Ethan's apron and ripped it off in front of everyone.

The kitchen went completely silent.

Some cooks felt sorry for Ethan.

Others secretly smiled.

Most believed Richard was right.

After all, Ethan had spent years living under the shadow of his legendary father.

No matter how hard he worked...

Nothing was ever good enough.

"You'll never be a real chef," Richard whispered coldly.

Those words hurt more than the humiliation.

Ethan quietly picked up the broken pieces of the plate without saying a single word.

No excuses.

No tears.

No anger.

Just silence.

As he walked out of the kitchen carrying his knife roll, everyone assumed his career was over.

What nobody noticed...

...was the elderly dishwasher watching everything from the corner.

He slowly smiled.

Because he knew a secret about Ethan that no one else in that restaurant had ever discovered.

May you like

And before sunrise...

Everything would change.
