Chapter 5 - The Purge"Now," Claire said, her voice carrying an absolute, unyielding authority that commanded every eye in the room. "Let's discuss the remaining business of Hartwell Advanced Textiles."

Evan Cole swallowed hard from his seat near the door, his hands resting on his laptop keyboard.

"Ms. Hartwell," Evan began hesitantly, "the Northstar buyout acquisition portal is still active in the mainframe. Their automated system is waiting for the final validation code from Martin’s terminal to release the first tranche of shares."

Claire didn't look at Evan. Her gaze remained fixed on Martin Vale, who was slumped defeatedly in a chair near the wall, staring at his expensive shoes.

"Execute a counter-protocol, Evan," Claire instructed calmly. "Trigger Code Delta-Nine."

Evan’s eyes widened in shock. "Delta-Nine? Ma'am, that... that initiates an immediate liquidation freeze on all corporate subsidiaries and automatically redirects any incoming funds into a federal escrow holding account managed by the Department of Justice."

"Do it," Claire commanded.

"Yes, ma'am!" Evan’s fingers flew across the keyboard. A series of rapid, high-pitched confirmation chimes echoed through the boardroom as the mainframe swallowed the command, instantly locking Northstar’s shell accounts out of the corporate network.

Across the room, Martin let out a low, ragged groan, burying his face in his hands.

"You've ruined us," Martin muttered, his voice muffled. "Northstar... they aren't just an investment firm. The people behind them... you don't know who you're messing with, Claire. They're connected to international syndicates. They won't just walk away because you froze an account."

Claire leaned forward, resting her elbows on the mahogany table, her eyes narrowing.

"Let them come," she said quietly. "For the past four years, I let you handle the boardroom politics because I believed you respected the sweat my father poured into the concrete floors of our factories. I spent my time in the labs, in the manufacturing plants, in the trenches. I thought that made me weak."

She stood up slowly, towering over the seated men.

"It didn't make me weak, Martin. It made me dangerous. Because while you were busy scheming in glass offices, I learned every single gear that keeps this company turning. And unlike you, I know every single person whose livelihood depends on it."

She turned her gaze toward Thomas Reid.

"Thomas, are the federal marshals downstairs?"

May you like

"Waiting in the lobby, exactly as you instructed," Thomas replied, opening his briefcase to reveal a pristine recording device. "And every single text, email, and wire transfer log has been securely backed up to an off-site cloud server that Northstar cannot scrub."

Claire nodded. "Bring them up."
