Chapter 7 - The New DawnThe boardroom was dead silent once more, save for the hum of the ventilation system.

The six remaining directors sat frozen in their seats, staring straight ahead like statues, terrified to make a single movement that might draw Claire’s attention.
Claire walked slowly back to the head of the table, gently resting her hand on the back of the leather chair. She looked around the room, her gaze sweeping over the men who had so willingly traded loyalty for a paycheck.
"You all knew," Claire said quietly, her voice carrying an icy edge that made every man in the room flinch. "Every single one of you voted to strip this company of its core assets, knowing full well it was built on a forged signature."
Director Henderson, an elderly man who had served on the board since Claire’s grandfather’s era, swallowed hard and lowered his head. "We... we were told the company was failing, Ms. Hartwell. Martin said—"
"Martin lied," Claire cut him off sharply. "And you chose convenience over integrity."
She reached into her portfolio and pulled out a stack of pre-printed documents, sliding one across the polished wood toward each director.
"You have two choices," Claire continued, her tone unwavering. "Option one: You resign effective immediately, forfeit all unvested stock options, and face independent shareholder lawsuits for fiduciary negligence alongside Martin."
Director Henderson’s hands trembled as he touched the edge of the paper. "And... and option two?"
"Option two," Claire said, leaning forward slightly, "you sign an immediate confession and restitution agreement acknowledging Martin’s fraud, hand over your voting proxies to the executive office for the next twenty-four months, and allow me to restructure this board from the ground up with people who actually know what a balance sheet looks like."
Nobody hesitated.
Within ninety seconds, all six pens hit the mahogany table. Six signatures were inked in rapid succession.
Claire gathered the papers, sliding them back into her leather folder with absolute precision.
"Effective immediately, this board is dissolved," Claire announced. "An emergency shareholder restructuring meeting will be scheduled for nine a.m. tomorrow. You are all dismissed."

The six disgraced directors stood up in near-total silence, gathering their briefcoats with shaking hands and hurrying out of the room like scolded children.
Within minutes, the boardroom was entirely empty, save for two people: Claire Hartwell and Evan Cole.
