Chapter 4 - THE CORPORATE VULTUREThe sun had barely risen over the glass-and-steel monolith of Mercer Towers downtown, but the executive boardroom on the forty-fifth floor was already boiling with tension.

Jonathan sat at the head of the massive mahogany conference table, scrolling through a dossier on his tablet. Standing beside him, dressed in a sharply tailored charcoal-gray pantsuit instead of her traditional black-and-white maid's uniform, was Grace Parker.
The transformation was breathtaking. With her hair unpinned and falling in soft waves past her shoulders, and her posture radiating absolute, coiled authority, she looked less like domestic staff and more like an elite corporate strategist.
The heavy oak doors swung open, and Richard Sterling strode into the room.
Richard was the senior vice president of acquisitions and Vanessa Whitmore’s secret cousin—a fact he had carefully concealed from the Mercer family board for years. He was a slick, ambitious corporate shark who had been eyeing the upcoming merger with Sterling-Global Logistics as his personal golden parachute.
"Jonathan!" Richard boomed, dropping a heavy leather briefcase onto the table. "I heard about the absolute circus at the gala last night. Disastrous business for the brand! But don't worry, I've already called damage control. We—"
Richard stopped mid-sentence as his eyes landed on the woman standing to Jonathan’s right. His jaw dropped.
"What is she doing here?" Richard sneered, pointing a finger at Grace. "Is this some kind of joke? Why is a domestic servant standing in the executive boardroom? Did you bring her in to serve coffee?"
Jonathan didn’t look up from his tablet. He simply slid a document across the polished wood toward Richard.
"Read page four, Richard," Jonathan said coldly.
Richard frowned, picking up the dossier. He flipped through the pages, his eyes scanning the financial audits, offshore bank transfers, and internal memos detailing unauthorized asset stripping.
As his eyes hit the bottom of page four, the color completely drained from his face. His hands began to tremble.
"This... this is fabricated!" Richard stammered, looking up with sweat beading on his forehead. "You can't prove any of this! These are internal routing numbers from dummy accounts—"
"Accounts registered under your shell company in the Cayman Islands," Grace finished for him, her voice calm, clear, and utterly chilling.
Richard snapped his head toward her. "You—you little bitch! You hacked our servers? That's corporate espionage! I'll have you thrown in federal prison!"
"I didn't hack anything, Mr. Sterling," Grace said, taking a step forward. Her eyes locked onto his with an intensity that made the grown man involuntarily step back. "Your administrative assistant, tired of covering up your embezzlement, handed the physical ledger to Martha Reed three days ago. Martha gave it to me. And as Mr. Mercer’s new Chief of Corporate Security, I audited every single transaction before breakfast."
Richard’s face contorted into a mask of pure panic and rage. He realized he was completely trapped.

With a feral snarl, Richard reached into his jacket pocket, whipped out a heavy, snub-nosed Beretta handgun, and pointed it directly at Jonathan’s chest.
"If I'm going down, I'm taking the whole damn empire with me!" Richard screamed, his finger twitching on the trigger.
