Chapter 16 - THE SHADOWS OF EUROPE

The encrypted satellite phone on Vivien’s desk buzzed at 3:14 AM, cutting through the silence of the penthouse like a razor.

She didn't flinch. She reached out with a manicured hand, swiped the screen, and pressed it to her ear without a word.

"The Swiss accounts have been successfully consolidated," a synthesized, modulated voice whispered through the encrypted channel. "The remaining liquid capital from Zurich and Geneva has been funneled into the Vasiliev Foundation holdings. Not a single trace leads back to New York."

"And the European partners?" Vivien asked, her voice steady and chillingly calm.

"They are falling in line. The syndicate bosses in Marseille and Naples received the dossiers we sent yesterday afternoon. They understand that trying to challenge the new ownership structure is a death sentence. They are sending their representatives to New York next week to kiss the ring."

Vivien disconnected the call without saying goodbye. She dropped the burner phone onto the glass surface, walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window, and watched the faint purple bruises of dawn stretch across the Manhattan skyline. The empire was no longer fractured. By systematically dismantling Matteo’s international network from the inside out, she had consolidated a global syndicate under a legitimate philanthropic front. She hadn't just beaten the old guard at their own game; she had rewritten the rules entirely.
