Chapter 19 - THE BROKEN WILL

Giancarlo stared at the young woman standing before him. He realized with absolute terror that she wasn't bluffing. She possessed a terrifying, institutional ruthlessness that Matteo Vescari never had; Matteo operated on ego and violence, while Vivien operated on total, surgical annihilation.
Slowly, deliberately, Giancarlo unbuttoned his trench coat, pulled his Glock from his shoulder holster, and laid it flat on the glass table.
His enforcers followed suit, dropping their weapons to the polished floor with a series of dull, heavy thuds.
Giancarlo bowed his head slightly—not out of respect, but out of complete, unyielding subjugation. "The Sicilian corridors are yours, Ms. Cross. Whatever you require."
Vivien didn't smile. Victory was merely a baseline expectation. She turned her back on him, walking toward the floor-to-ceiling windows.
"Luca, escort our guest to his new office in the basement," Vivien instructed without turning around. "And ensure his passport remains in our custody until further notice."

"Right away, ma'am," Luca said, gesturing for Giancarlo and his broken men to clear out of the room.
As the elevator doors closed, locking the Sicilian kingpin out of power forever, Vivien stood in the quiet penthouse, looking out over the sprawling empire she had rightfully reclaimed.
