CHAPTER 7 — The Man Who Wanted the Truth Buried Forever

The phone call lasted less than one minute.

But before it ended, three lives were already in danger.

The man inside the black sedan was Richard Okoro.

To the public, he was a respected businessman and one of the largest investors in West Africa.

Only a handful of people knew the truth.

Thirty years earlier...

He had been a desperate accountant working for a struggling jewelry workshop owned by two young women with impossible dreams.

Grace.

And Miriam.

The same two women who had just found each other again.

Richard looked at an old photograph lying on the passenger seat.

The edges were burned.

Half of Grace's face had been torn away.

He smiled coldly.

"I buried this story once."

"I'm not letting two old women destroy everything now."

That evening, Adrian invited Kaima and both mothers to his family estate.

It wasn't a mansion built to impress.

It was built to honor sacrifice.

Every wall displayed old family photographs instead of expensive paintings.

The first bicycle Adrian's father had repaired.

The tiny roadside stall where Miriam had sold handmade bracelets.

The first receipt from the family's original jewelry shop.

Kaima looked around in amazement.

"You kept all of this?"

Adrian smiled.

"My mother said success without memory becomes arrogance."

Miriam laughed.

"So I made sure he never forgot."

For the first time in years...

The house felt complete.

Until dinner was interrupted.

A security officer hurried inside.

"Sir."

"We have a problem."

He handed Adrian a thick envelope.

No sender.

No return address.

Inside were copies of newspaper articles from thirty years ago.

One headline immediately caught everyone's attention.

"LOCAL JEWELRY SHOP DESTROYED BY FIRE — TWO OWNERS MISSING."

Grace's hands began shaking.

"No..."

"I remember this night."

Another page fell onto the table.

A handwritten message.

Stop searching.

Some graves should never be opened.

Silence filled the dining room.

Adrian slowly folded the letter.

"They've been watching us."

Miriam whispered,

"I knew the past would come back."

Grace looked terrified.

"I thought we escaped him."

Kaima frowned.

"Him?"

Neither woman answered.

Instead...

They looked at each other with fear they hadn't shown in thirty years.
