Chapter 2 - The Red Chamber

Inside the mobile ICU, top-tier obstetricians worked rapidly to stabilize my labor. Thanks to the advanced medical technology, my labor was managed, allowing me to undergo a safe, controlled emergency procedure. Two hours later, the cries of two healthy baby boys—Leo and Arthur—echoed inside the sterile unit. Tears of immense relief spilled over my eyes as I held my sons against my chest. They were safe. They were perfect.
While I rested in the mobile suite, Marcus's tactical team executed my instructions inside the suburban house.
They didn't just leave an empty room; they staged a chilling, haunting scene designed to tear Travis's psyche apart. They spilled dark, synthetic medical blood across the light cream carpets where I had been abandoned. They overturned furniture to simulate a desperate struggle. A single, bloody handprint was dragged down the wall toward the front door, leaving a stark visual trail of violence and agony.
In the center of the living room, illuminated by a single flickering lamp, sat a solitary, empty white bassinet, draped in torn, crimson-stained swaddling blankets. Resting on the coffee table right beside it was a sealed biohazard evidence bag and a official police notification folder, strategically placed where anyone entering would see it immediately.
Marcus walked back out to the mobile unit, handing me a secure tablet that broadcasted the live feed from the hidden security cameras inside the house.

"Everything is set, Miss Vance," Marcus reported quietly. "The local precinct has been briefed under federal authority. Your husband and his family are currently pulling into the driveway."
On the monitor, I watched the headlights of Travis's sedan sweep across the garage door. My heart hardened. The ordeal was far from over; the retribution had only just begun.
