Chapter 2 - THE HOSPITAL CONFRONTATION

Facebook Hook Title: 💥 "I Walked Into Their VIP Maternity Suite. My Ex-Husband's Mother Fainted When She Saw the DNA Test!"The VIP wing of Mount Sinai smelled of expensive lilies and clean linen. I walked down the carpeted hallway, my high heels clicking a steady, lethal rhythm against the floor. I wore a tailored emerald-green suit. I didn’t look like a grieving ex-wife. I looked like an acquisition.
When I pushed open the heavy oak door to the suite, the laughter inside died instantly.
Julian was standing by the window, holding a crystal glass of sparkling cider. Chloe was in the bed, looking like a tragic Victorian heroine, holding the pink-wrapped baby. Sitting in the plush armchair was Eleanor Montgomery, Julian’s formidable mother, draped in Chanel pearls and a permanent expression of disapproval.
"Clara," Julian gasped, his grip tightening on his glass. His smug smile faltered, replaced by a sudden, defensive anger. "What the hell are you doing here? We signed the papers. You have no right—"
"I have every right, Julian," I said smoothly, stepping into the room and closing the door behind me. "In fact, as the primary trustee of this wing, I’m practically your landlord for the next forty-eight hours."
Eleanor stood up, her pearls clinking. "Clara, this is highly inappropriate. My son has finally secured the Montgomery legacy. You couldn't give him children, and now you come here to ruin his happiest day? Have you no dignity?"
I ignored Eleanor. I walked directly to the foot of Chloe's bed.
Chloe shrank back, clutching the baby closer to her chest. She looked beautiful, but beneath the makeup, I could see the panic in her eyes. She knew me. She knew that I didn't do anything without a calculation.
"They're beautiful babies, Chloe," I said, my voice dripping with sweet poison. "A boy and a girl. Truly, the perfect family. It’s just a shame they don't look anything like Julian."
Julian stepped forward, his face flushing red. "Get out, Clara! You’re bitter. You’re desperate. Just because you're empty and alone—"
"I’m not alone, Julian. I have my money," I interrupted, pulling a manila folder from my leather tote bag and tossing it onto Chloe's lap. It landed with a soft, heavy thud. "And I have the truth."
"What is this?" Eleanor asked, her eyes narrowing as she looked from the folder to her son.
"Open it, Chloe," I commanded gently.
Chloe’s hands shook. She didn't open it. She knew what was inside.
"Julian," I said, turning to my ex-husband. "You always wanted to be a father. You wanted it so badly that you ignored the fact that you’ve been medically sterile since you were twelve years old. Did you really think I didn’t know? I’ve known since our third year of marriage. I kept quiet to protect your fragile ego."
Julian laughed nervously, but his eyes darted to his mother. "That's a lie. A cheap, pathetic lie. We have twins! They're mine!"
"Open the folder, Eleanor," I suggested.
Eleanor snatched the folder from Chloe’s lap. She flipped it open. Her eyes scanned the document—the Danish fertility clinic records, the donor profile of K7, and the DNA matching report of one Marcus Vance, Chloe’s personal trainer, whose genetic marker perfectly matched the babies' profiles.
Eleanor’s face went from pale to ghostly white. She staggered backward, clutching her chest.
"Julian..." Eleanor whispered, her voice trembling. "The boy... didn't tell you?"
"Tell me what, Mother?" Julian’s voice cracked.

"He... he knew," Eleanor choked out, looking at Chloe with pure disgust. "No... Julian, you... you couldn't..."
"He didn't know, Eleanor," I said, leaning in. "Because Chloe lied to him. And Julian was too arrogant to check. He was so eager to replace me that he accepted a lie as his legacy."
