Chapter 3 - THE COLD AUDIT

Facebook Hook Title: 🔥 "My Best Friend Thought She Won My Husband. Then I Showed Her the $15 Million Debt She Just Inherited!"The silence in the VIP suite was suffocating. Julian stared at his mother, then at the documents in her shaking hands, and finally at Chloe, whose face had completely drained of color.

"Chloe?" Julian’s voice was barely a whisper. "Is this... is this true?"

Chloe began to sob, the carefully styled waves of her hair shaking. "Julian, please! It was for us! We wanted a family so badly, and... and I knew how much it meant to you! It doesn't change anything! They're your babies in your heart!"

"In my heart?!" Julian roared, dropping his glass. It shattered on the hardwood floor, sparkling cider splashing over his expensive leather shoes. "They aren't my blood! You brought another man’s bastards into my family name!"

"Actually, Julian, it’s worse than that," I chimed in, crossing my arms. "You don't have a family name left to give them."

Julian whipped his head around to face me, his eyes wild with fury. "What are you talking about? NextGen Capital is mine! I kept the firm in the divorce!"

"Yes, you did," I replied calmly. "You kept the firm, the physical offices, and the outstanding liabilities. While you were busy planning this perfect little family photo shoot, my lawyers were executing the final dissolution of our partnership. NextGen Capital’s primary investors were only there because of my family’s trust. This morning, those investors pulled sixty percent of their capital."

Julian gasped, his phone suddenly buzzing violently in his pocket. He pulled it out, his eyes widening as he read the incoming notifications.

"No... no, no, no," he muttered, his fingers scrolling frantically. "The margin calls... the banks are calling in the loans on the luxury developments..."

"You owe fifteen million dollars in immediate liquidity, Julian," I said, taking a step closer to him. "And since you insisted on keeping Chloe and the babies as your sole beneficiaries, she is now legally tied to your personal guarantees. Every asset she has, including the trust fund you set up for her last month, is now collateral for NextGen's debt."

Chloe’s crying stopped instantly. She looked up, her eyes wide with terror. "What? No! Julian, you said I was safe! You said the trust was locked!"

"It was locked," I said, looking directly at her. "Until Julian signed the addendum on page forty-two of the divorce settlement. The page he didn't read because he was too busy texting you about his 'new chapter'. He pledged your trust as a secondary guarantee to secure his personal loans."

Chloe looked at Julian like he was a monster. "You idiot! You ruined us!"

"Me?!" Julian screamed back. "You cheated on me! You made me a laughingstock!"

"I did it for the money, you fool!" Chloe shrieked, dropping all pretense of the sweet, elegant woman she had played for years. "You think I wanted to be with a dry, arrogant man like you? You couldn't even give me a child! Marcus actually loved me!"

Eleanor groaned, sinking into the chair, clutching her pearls as if they could save her from the social ruin unfolding in front of her. "The Montgomery name... destroyed... in a single afternoon..."
