Chapter 19 - The Unseen WatcherI didn't panic. Panic was for men who didn't know their own strength.

Instead, I unlocked my phone, tapped out a quick reply to the unknown number—“I’ll be waiting in the garden”—and slipped the device back into my pocket.

I climbed into the SUV, the engine purring to life with a low, steady rumble as we headed back toward the mansion.

If someone else wanted to challenge the Harbor King, they wouldn't have to look far. I had spent eight years hiding behind locked doors, letting grief and fear dictate my existence. I would never make that mistake again.

When we arrived at the estate, the iron gates swung open automatically, welcoming us into the sprawling, secure grounds.

I walked up the grand stone steps, pushed open the heavy oak front doors, and strode directly through the dimly lit corridors toward the winter garden at the back of the mansion.

The glass ceiling overhead shimmered under the pale light of a crescent moon, casting silver beams across the marble fountains and imported trees.

Standing near the edge of the fountain, silhouetted against the moonlight, was a tall figure in a dark trench coat.

They didn't turn around as I approached. They simply stood there in silence, listening to the gentle splashing of the water.
